Isn't it a service for an agreed upon price/salary? I don't know why I feel that there is something more than just that to keep you running as an employee (need for work thing!!!) Employer/ employee relationship usually has a push and pull and not a stright forward thing. any idea?

Has anyone ever used this estimator and compared it to how close it was to what they actually got back? Is it pretty accurate in its estimate?

My sorority needs to raise money. Excluding car washes (cause it's winter,) and selling candy, (we've done that, too much work too little profit), is there anything you can reccomend? And i'd appreciate ones that are geared toward college people, or fundraising on a campus setting.

thanks for your input!

My brother who is a US citizen has been living outside of the US through all of 2006. He came back to visit for a few weeks but thats all. I remember someone once told me that if you're living outside the US for more than X days out of the year then you don't need to file income tax. Is this true and does anyone know how many days?

Thanks.

I gave my employee a W2 and he has a 1099 from a previous employment. $9700 from W2 and $14,000 from 1099. We calculated his refund on H&R Block's website and it seems to high, (over $5000.00) He has 3 dependants, 2 childs under 4 and his wife. Is this accurate? He is paying pre-school for one of his kids, bought a used car last year and a laptop. can this be the reason? Thanks everybody.

Who do insurance agents and financial advisors use for technical support on their pcs, pdas, and printers. I am an independent IT consultant and I'd like to know if State Farm agents, and SmithBarney financial advisor type companies use independent IT consultants to install and maintain their software & hardware systems?

I was working for a company for years and they fired me, so I was eligible. Then I got a job 2 weeks later, so no more unemployment for me. The problem is now I don't like the job I currently have. I've been at this new job for 2 months now. I live in NJ. If I resign, can I collect unemployment?

I am in a 50/50 partnership and I am trying to buy my partner out. He gave me a paper today stating the $ he wants. And at the bottom it says if I dont pay on time, he will assume the business. He did put in most of the money but I filed all the IRS stuff and its a legal 50/50 partnership. What can he do if I dont pay his demands?

he has admitted that he is out of his depth in his job and i have tried to be supportive. In this time he has been increasingly demanding of myself and my female boss (I too am female). the work he has asked of me is where he hasn't known what to do himself. He is a senior manager and there are 5 other people in our team: 3 are men and myself and my line manager are female. Today he unveiled a new piece of work none of the team are keen to do - he allocated 9 of the duties to myself, 8 to the duties of are assigned to my female line manger and 4 others are split between the other 4 men. In the same meeting he told me that I should capture the minutes even though I was not the most junior member of staff, only the most junior female. When I asked, why he replied why not?
When I meet him on my own he's patronising and has a very uncompromising and bullish manner that I must do as he says no matter if I feel it isn't the right approach. He;s not like this with the men. Why?

I'm here on H1 visa. I came here alone initially (in may 2005) and filled W4 as single. Later my family (wife and daughter) joined me in August 2005. I didnt file the renewed W4 and my status remained Single on W2. Is there any way I can get tax benefit of being married? What could be done in such a case?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
