Isn't it a service for an agreed upon price/salary? I don't know why I feel that there is something more than just that to keep you running as an employee (need for work thing!!!) Employer/ employee relationship usually has a push and pull and not a stright forward thing. any idea?

I think one thing about having a job, since I have retired I find it is true for me anyway, is the people you work around (not necessarily 'For' and if you like your job, the new challenges you face every day that you won't find at home. Also, I have, besides my SS, a monthly income from the co. I worked for and my 401-k. That's worth the effort. Maybe you aren't getting enough out of the "work experience" because your at the wrong job.

There is no secret to employment, acutally it is very simple. You work your butt off for someone else and get paid like crap. On top of that the government takes a big chunk of your check to pay for a whole bunch of social programs that make people lazy and what you have left over is just enough for you to pay rent and food. That is the whole phylosophy in the american syste. You work hard for someone else and make them rich, you get paid just enough to survive and hopefully you die at age 65 so they don't have to pay you social security.
