I was working for a company for years and they fired me, so I was eligible. Then I got a job 2 weeks later, so no more unemployment for me. The problem is now I don't like the job I currently have. I've been at this new job for 2 months now. I live in NJ. If I resign, can I collect unemployment?

Not generally... What about finding a new job before you quit?

In some cases you can collect unemployment if you quit your job, but if you quit just because you don't like the job, probably not. The individual arbitrators will make the decisions based on many criteria. The smart thing to do is look for another job while you still have this one. A bird in the hand.....etc.

I would call unemployment and be honest. There may be some instances where leaving a job qualifies you for unemployment but I'd bet in most cases, no - not for just not liking the job.
