I filled out my W2 as single because I didn't want to owe money at the end of the year, but now I don't know if I will be getting more or less of a refund than if I had filled as married to begin with. Where can I get free info? THANKS!

if you file as single, you will get more taxes/less paycheck, probably at about a 20% rate, so you MAY get a refund. The more dependents you claim, the less taxes/more paycheck and more risk of having to pay at tax time.

As a married person, you can also claim married, filing separately. My husband and I have done this a few times when it's more advantageous for us to get a better refund.

if you claimed single, zero dependents on your W9 form at work, you had the maximum amount of tax withheld. when you file your taxes, the standard deduction should get you some money back. it is higher as a married couple than as a single. fear not!

the library has all that stuff setting out this time of year. Did your spouse also file single? I think to file single would be tax fraud. I think you mean married but filing separate. i heard this is the worst way to file, but i am no expert.

You should get a bigger refund. Married W-4s (not W-2s) instruct the company to withhold less.
