i guess now a days, getting a job is more-over who you know, but what if you really don't know anyone to help you get anywhere??

when i graduated high school, you filled out a PAPER application and were hired the next day, now everyone has to go online to fill out an hour application which just wastes your time.. grrrr *frustration**

not just for the young folks. i am 42 and going through a career change and am back in school after 25 years. and i have no parents to lean on. it is either work or live under a bridge. when i was young, you could get decent jobs at general motors, or Eli Lilly, but those jobs even at the lowest levels are for degreed people only. and then if you are female and over forty it is even more difficult, believe me. i have put in 120 applications on-line. it is frustrating. i am working with work-one at my state college. ivy tech in Indianapolis. they specialize in helping students find jobs in there field of study. when you have at least 45 credit hours you can start doing internships that pay around 20.00 an hour. in the mean time they have guaranteed me they will help me find work in a week or two. you may want to Check and see if your school has such a program. good luck. it is frustrating, but God will provide for you if you have faith.

Good luck son. Hope you overcome this failing society. Just remember it was LBJ and MLK that brought about this mess. It is up to your generation to do whatever is necessary to reorganize this country. Study history and see how they dealt with this kind of injustice and corruption. Be brave and relentless.

Its not just retail jobs, its any job. Going to college isn't enough anymore, you have to know somebody. My advise, hang on to whatever you are lucky enough to land.
