Yes, any child born on or before December 31, 2006 is considered your dependent for the entire tax year.

Not only are you eligible for the standard 3300 dollar deduction for him you may also qulify for EIC (earned income credit) which in many cases can be a substantial amount of money. So as soon as you have all of your w2's and 1099 forms get to filing. In addition go t www.irs.gov and see if you qualify to e-file for free.
