I've been living in central Florida since 1980, but am considering moving to India (where I was born) in a few years. One US dollar is worth about 44 Rupees. But what can you buy with a Rupee? Here, an 8 ounce (227 grams) cup of yogurt costs half a dollar. An oil change for my car at a local dealership costs $15. A new Honda Civic costs $15,000. A small, 2 bedroom house costs $100,000. Can someone tell me what all these things would cost in India? And how available would these items be, say in an area near a major city such as Calcutta?

What is the average price of a home in Tampa? Clearwater?

I want to retire to Clearwater in the next few years but the prices have always been kind of high, and I am from California, so my view of housing prices is a bit shaded.

What's up Florida?

I'm 42 and am putting in 15k in my 401k. I get matched on first 5%. I am currently married and in 28% tax bracket. My 401k is invested in American Funds and Vanguard funds. I own and do not rent and am not interested in real estate (sorry I don't buy the hype, the market outperforms real estate over time.) Really want to know what the benefit of putting money into a Roth would be.

Please, only legit jobs where I wouldn't need to pay anything to start. I am a student and would love to find something that I can do online. Genres of jobs work too. No dropshipping though. Thanks.

I'm getting ready to file my taxes.
A friend of mine has been living with me and my bf. My friend didnt work at all in 2006. He does have a child. Can i claim his child as a dependent on my Taxes? I did provide a lot for him. But i also paid my friend to watch my son while i was at work. Can i use that as a deduction? It wasn't much, but it was something. Do i need documentation showing this? Like receipts or signed letter from him?
And i also got a letter a couple weeks ago from IRS saying that i owe them $1300 for an error on my 2005 Taxes. So if i get a return for 2006 will they keep it? Even if i requested a Payment Plan? (still waitin to see if that gets approved)

I know about the new law that requires you to get a receipt, but that happened just recently. What about all the donations I made before the law passed? Does the IRS expect me to have receipts for donations made in 2006 before the new law passed?

We have had a medical bill turned over to a collection agency in which we have a previous collection with. We have been making regular payments every month and suddenly they demanded us to pay more. They asked us to fill out a financial questionaire and then told us to pay more per month. Frankly, we have set aside a hundred dollars a week to feed our family of four and put gas in our cars to get to work which leaves us about 60 a week for food. If we agree to their terms we will have $35 a week to feed our family. Do we have any rights at all?

There are only 6 of us in an office. 3 girls and 3 guys. We have 2 washrooms. However, I just feel so weird about number two-ing at work.
I think it should not be done. The washrooms are in the middle of the office between the 2 other girls desks. There is spray and a fan and the whole bit, but unlike the others I just can't go. I hold it until I get cramps and try my best to make it home after my 8 hr shift. I feel like I am judged, and that they know what I am doing in there and it weirds me out.

Is it just me, or do people think about you going when you do?

I just finished my first semester at college and did not perform well. I want to get an internship at a firm maybe working with the Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities department or the Global Investment department of a company. Hopefully these departments aren't as competitive as Investment Banking. Do you know of any companies that are easier to get an internship from for a person with no background in finance except for high school econ and a lousy first semester GPA?

I have been working in with a company for 2 years and was promoted to management 8 months ago. The owner had a private meeting with me where he explained that he was letting a co-manager of mine go for a lack in performance and that I would need to help cover his responsibilities while a replacement is found. The manager being let go has become a good friend of mine over the last year and was partially instrumental in my promotion.

He is being let go next where he will probably receive a small severance package. It is hard working with him knowing his pending fate next week, but I do not want to put my job in any jeopardy by letting him know. I would normally trust confiding in him, but i don't know how he would react in this situation. I am a single parent and do want to put my own job at risk.

Should I shut up and toe the line, or tell my friend of his coming layoff?

I was given a sum of shares for the company I work for 3 years ago and I am allowed to exercise these shares as of 22nd Jan. I have checked and the shares are approved by inland revenue, (which seems to imply that I don't pay income tax on them) but I've heard I may have to pay capital gains tax on these? Am I free to get all the share money or does a certain tax apply?..
