Friend, there are many loan places that you can apply for a loan. If your credit is bad these places shall turn you down. The GOV said that the credit reporting service has to give you a free credit report if their report results in a creditor not providing credit service. All loan companies by law are required to put in writing the reason for credit denial and the source of that reason.

They use to offer a free one each year and now they have stopped that. You can order it with a check. You can also apply for a credit card - once you are denied you can request a copy of your credit report for free.

PLEASE DON'T GET A FREE ONLINE CREDIT REPORT! The second you do, you have given up your information to many, many other credit report firms automatically. They all run your credit, and each and every time someone runs your "free" report, your credit score goes down about 4-5 points. This will cost you way more than you want it to in the long run, and can drastically affect any loans you may get in the future. Be careful, it's happened before....
