I took over a furniture store last april A customer from the priviest owner called the store and told me there is a desk he wanted to pick up long story short. this guy treatend to sue the both of us me for not giving him the last owners phone # and the last owner for not giving him the desk that is owed . I dont want no part of this it has nothing to do with me what should i do?

let me state that although I sell the same product. the business name has changed and owners name has changed the store was empty when i came in

No, you have no reason to be giving out anyone's phone number. Buying someone else's business does not give you the obligation to provide where they can be reached. He can however sue the other guy if he didn't get his merchandise. I wouldn't worry about it.

He can not sue you about the phone # but he can be awarded the desk if he has paperwork to prove that it is owed to him. Wait and see what he does.

he does not have any leg to stand on. It is actually illegal for you to give anyones number away that does not first give you permission unless it is a listed number. And as long as there is no paperwork saying that this guy purchased it and had not picked it up then their is nothing he can do to you.

Let him rant away. Do not speak with him and definitely do not put anything in writing.

If he thinks he can sue he will talk with an attorney who will tell him he does not have a case.
