I have 6 acres of land going up the side of a hill. If I took it all away and leveled my land would I have less property, or does the survey measurements take into account that I live on a hill and have already calculated the survey stakes on a flat plane?

Thanks for your help.

What are the federal tax implications if parents sell their house to their children at fair
market value, taking back a life estate which ,of course, lasts until the last parent dies?
What is the tax basis of the children in the home? It obviously includes the fair market
purchase price. But how is the life estate handled? It is obvious that a purchase in fee
simple should be worth more than a home encumbered by two life estates of the parents.
So should fair market value at time of purchase be valued by taking into account the life
expectancy of the parents discounted by a reasonable interest rate?
If this is done you might have a situation where the regular fair market purchase value
might be $300,000 if there is no life remanderman . Assume the value of the
remanderman is $100,000. Therefore the adjusted fair market value would be only
$200,000. What is the tax basis for the children when the last parent dies? It obviously
includes the purchase price of $ 200,000. But what about the $100,000 (life estate)
remainderman encumbrance which disappears at death when the children acquire full
title. If the parents lived 2/3 of there joint expected remaining lives -- (say they lived
out 12 of the expected 18 years). Can one argue that the children tax basis is $200,000
plus $33,000 by using the fair market value remaining at time of death?
If the children did not buy the house but inherited it, their basis would be $300,000.
But if they bought it for $200,000 most people would say that their basis is $200,000.
However, that would ignore the value of the remanderman which obviously had a value
which had a life of its own. A life estate or remanderman means that the parents can
live in the home for the rest of their lives without paying rent.

yesterday. Her show was about dreams. I think it would be cool to have a model agency for girls of all sizes. The first plus size model to grace the cover of Vogue was on Oprahs show yesterday. So I just want to know where should I start? I know I want to have it in a big city such as Boston since Im gonna move there soon. It would be pointless to have it in NYC since Im sure there are so many modeling agencies there already.

I been designing and programming systems for the past 15 years as a consultant, and now I have some completed software that I would like to package and market and sell, I don't want to start small with a website, because my advantage is that I make really easy to use software, kinda like what APPLE did to the iPOD (mp3 player market), so I want to raise money. Where do I start after I complete my business plan. My credit isn't that good for a SBA LOAN.

If you look on their websites for a house you have to page though lists of 'sold' or 'under offer' houses when really you just want to see the ones that are available. Why do they do that?

DCAing a 401k. Does it make sense to bail out of large caps rather than ride them to new highs. I was thinking of switching caps at the end of the year. I am 24 and what to accumulate rather than perform well. Am I correct?

I've been working part-time for 3 weeks in a retail environment. When I first arrived, I was told I would be sharing a cash drawer with my boss. When I first counted the drawer I discovered it was $47 short of cash. I told my manager who explained that it had been short since a previous employee had stolen from it, and he said he would fix it. 3 weeks have passed and it's still not fixed, as a matter of fact, it's now short $58. This leads me to conclude that my boss cannot count or is careless with money. This concerns me only because I share that drawer with him, so I am equally responsible for the cash. In order to fix the drawer he would have to short the deposit, which HIS boss would notice, which is why I believe he hasn't done it. What are my options here? I'm at a loss and getting more nervous by the second.

We are off to see our bank tomorrow to try and sort our finances, we are in a bit (well quite a bit then) of debt and have arranged a meeting with someone from bank to try and sort out paying back our overdraft and credit cards etc.
I just basically want some help on what to be saying & asking etc.
the bank we are with are charging us £125 a month for the fact we are over our overdraft limit, and then they wonder why when they charge us it takes us over it!
I need to be able to know what they could offer us what they can do to help and how to stop them charging so much as it isnt helping us finacially at all! and it is keeping us in debt! which i know banks do on purpose but we cant live like this forvever!
