I'm in the process of getting 3 patents and want to sell them to a technology company when they're done, but I also want to make money fast. I've sent emails and letters to about 5 or 6 companies and the only one that responded and seemed really interested and able to work with me on it was Creative Labs (the website's us.creative.com if you need to see a product.) The thing is they're saying their R and D is very busy at the moment, and will contact later if they are interested. Should I basically tell them one of my ideas and say they can only use it if they have my permission and if I work with them on it? Or should I just keep waiting and sending emails to them until they reply again? This idea could really help them out, but I'm naturally greedy ( :( ), so I need a way to get it to them without them stealing the idea. Are they legally allowed to use it without my permission before I patent it? and if anyone's ever had experience with this, please contact me or just answer. thnx.

Everyone seems so stuck on being professional that to them, being professional means don't be open about anything, only make quick meaningless dry jokes to pass the time & feel comfortable around others.

I want to talk more at work, but because of this I'm forced to not say much. & if I don't say anything, that could be considered me being anti-social. But how can you talk to people when at work, people basically dumb down conversations to just being about the weather? Is this how the work enviornment is suppose to be?

Your thoughts?

By the way: & the managers who say they encourage you talking more openly to them, always ends with them being very closed and secretive, so clearly they don't really want conversation.

Even at lunch time, people clearly force themselves to speak when the table gets quiet. & ofcourse the conversation is about another dry joke, nothing interesting.

Is this the way the work environment is suppose to be like? Because it's mindnumbing/boring.

I am on wage garnishment (10%) of gross pay due to a partners' embezzelment of NYS sales tax. I lost my job, missed payments, and they seized what was left of my bank account. Now married and expecting, will NYS seize my family's accounts? Does it matter how one files their taxes? I don't know where to go.

There's lots of details on this one- bare with me cause I could really use the help! I started this job 4 months ago. I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks after I was hired and was straight up with them about it. They were okay about that. When I was hired, I was hired as a drafter. I told them in the interview I wanted responsibility and to move up. After being here a month, I started training on a chain account we have here as a customer service rep for their jobs. It was great!!! I loved the pressure, the business, the responsibility, everything! Well, then after I'd been on that job for about 3 months, they hired in a guy who had a pre-law degree but had never worked one day in his life. He is now taking this project I have and I'm getting bumped back down to drafting again! Now I don't even want to mess with this place. I have no drive in my job at all.... I was given a taste of something I loved and everyone knew I loved and then it was taken. What do I do?

If not how do you handle clients who haven't any cash? I could either wait until the next week or invoice in which case I'd probably receive a cheque by post. I don't mind accepting cheques for a few hundred pounds, but for trivial amounts it's a pain in the neck. I just wonder how other small businesses handle this and I'm not interested in any other replies.

Hi, I'm doing a report on advertising, and I need the opinions of business owners who have used various advertising methods.

The mediums I'm focusing on are: newspaper, television, direct mailings, magazines, radio, and internet ads (keyword, banner, pop-up, etc).

If you could tell me what has and hasn't worked for you, that would be really helpful!

Or if you know of people who have used any of these methods and had success or failure, tell me about it.

I need lots of opinions! The more the better!

Thank you so much for all your help!

PS: It's really important for me to have opinions on all the mediums I mentioned, so if you have any experience with any of them, please let me know about it!
