i want to build or buy a house but havent found one or havent found a place to build one yet. i want to take advantage of these low rates right now. is there anyway i can start paying on a mortgage now and lock in my interest rate, then when i find what i want i would have this low interest rate and already have paid some on it????? or is there a way i can get a say 200,000 mortgage, put the money in a cd, then when im ready i could take the money out, use it to pay for the house.

i know someone is going to say to just put howevermuch money the payment is going to be, and put it in savings then when im ready, i would have that savings for a bigger down payment, and that would offset the cost of having a higher interest.

well thats just too hard to do for me. its easy for me to make payments but real hard to put money in savings. any suggestions????

I am a software developer. Kindly suggest me some investment options wherein this amount is exempted from taxable income. Also, after investment the income arising out of the same is also relieved from tax (it is **not mandatory** requirement).

I have already invested in PPF and NSC and have taken LIC policies of long terms. I am looking for making investment wherein the amount is not locked for a longer duration and also at the maturity the tax burden should be minmum. I am not interested in making investment to equity market so please dont suggest me MFs which purely invest in equity market. Mutual fund investing in other than equity market yielding moderate rate of returns (somewhere around 10%-12%) would do.

If you have any other suggestion, kindly share it with me so that it helps me in making decisions.

the items will sell for at least $200,000. its bad enough if there is nothing paid up front, but once the sell is final, what would be an appropiate fee to charge the seller for your services?

My home has been on the market in Northern California for almost 3 months without an offer. I've reduced the price twice, and now it's about 10% below the initial asking price, and about 15% below the peak market value a year ago. It seems that all that my agent does is hold an open house every weekend. I'm concerned that open houses do not always attract genuine prospects, and may be he should be doing more to market the house in this slow market. What should I tell him to do, or shoud I fire him and get another agent?

My husband hates his job. His dream job is to be a music video director, and he has been working at this for 10 yrs with no luck. I am trying to encourage him to look elsewhere in the same industry that may be more 'realistic' (of course not saying that directly) such as film editor. He also says he has no idea what he wants to do with his life. I suggest going to school to increase skills, but he says no way. This conversation has been repeating itself for at least three yrs, and resulted in him still at the same job. What should I do? I suggested the 'what color is my parachute book', and he looked at it but did not like it. Any suggestions, I feel really stuck!
