Go to the book store and buy a secretary's hand book. A secretary's handbook is a must. It's best to write the way you think. As you get better you can begin to use the power of the English language. When you write be precise. Think of what you have to say and lay it out in the order that the reader will understand. When I say be precise I mean explain with the least amount of words needed. It helps to do a lot of reading. You get use to how different writers express themselves and also you learn punctuation. The hand book will have the different letter forms, proper salutations and much much more. Hope the best for you and have a little more confidence in yourself.

I do agree with all of the above, including your question. You do need to improve on your letter writing and communication skills. Starting with the basics of learning correct grammar, spelling and punctuations. Take a public speaking class for better communication and a course in letter writing. It will at least try to restore what you should have learned in School in your English class, that is if, English is your language.

As far as your Boss? You cannot change a perfectionist, especially if he's your Boss. Best thing to do? Is improve on your weakness.

Best of luck finding what you need for improvement.

Just looking at your questions, you have problems. You have poor punctuation. You have run-on sentences. And worse. You have repeated the same idea in four ways. Do you think your audience wouldn't have understood the first, second and third times?

First, can you find and imitate some good letters, some that he thinks are any good?

Second, why are you writing the letters? Is it in your job description? I would say that your work is to edit the letters, etc. not to draft them.

I think you first need to focus on basic communication. If the medium of communication at your workplace is English, then you're not upto it. You need to learn how to be fluent. That means framing your sentences right. There are many courses and books on the subject, but remember - only practise can make you perfect! Simultaneously, try finding out other jobs that you mihgt be better at. Normally, a good level of communication is attained at school and it may be ridiculous for you to re-do the 10-12 years of schooling again. Anyway, you will need to learn how to communicate effectively someday. Good luck!
