My Mom has a house that is in dire straits. Just unbelievably awul condition. I called the ugly house people (from the billboards) and they said it is a project they would not take on because there are way to many repairs that need done and a chance of profit is slim to none.

So my question is, is it possible to just give the house away? Are there organizations that would take it? Perhaps as a dontation? I thought about listing it for sale for like $5000 and see if anyone wants it. It is seriously in bad shape. I am open to any and all ideas. Thanks!

Say that I turn my primary residence into a rental property and rent it for 1500 when my mortgage payment with taxes and insurance is really 2000.
can I claim that 500 monthly loss when I file taxes to IRS? If so how does that deduction work? Is it like any other deduction?

And lastly if I were to rent it for a gain hypothetically speaking, how does the gain get taxed? Like regular income? thank you.

Ok I just turned 23 but when I was 18-21 I did some REALLY stupid stuff w. my money. I overdrue a checking acct by 272 dollars and it was reported to Chex Systems, and I owe about 4-6 different places money that I think have referred me to credit bureaous. For the past year and a half I have been making a consious effort to pay my bills on time and have been doing great but have no had the money to go back and pay off all my debts that have went to collection. I tried to get an auto loan and was not approved. Basicaly, I need a general idea of how credit works because I have no idea. If a bad debt is on ur credit report for a certain time and its not paid does it ever go away? can anyone help? Am i able to repair this or have I ruined myself for life at such a young age? *please dont leave any comments about how i am screwed or really messed up, believe me i already know what damage i have done*

Sunday night, the toilet & shower started overflowing and sent sewage onto the floor in the downstairs. The problem was a result of roots in the sewer pipe that caused the back-up. The sewage spilled onto the carpet in the room. i called a plumber to fix the problem immediately. however, we need to replace the carpet.

I have sent two emails to my landlord regarding the problem and left two voicemails. The carpet is a health hazard and needs to be replaced immediately. How should i proceed in fixing this problem?

Should i replace the carpet and then just deduct from the rent (which is due today)? Or just not pay rent until i hear from the landlord on how to proceed?!

Help!!

My parents are very old and I plan to have them move into my house and help pay for some of their expenses for medication etc.

1)can I put them under my health insurance plan for my employer and how does that work if I wanted to do that?

2)can I file them as my dependents even though they are my parents for tax deduction purposes? Thank you.
