My Mom has a house that is in dire straits. Just unbelievably awul condition. I called the ugly house people (from the billboards) and they said it is a project they would not take on because there are way to many repairs that need done and a chance of profit is slim to none.

So my question is, is it possible to just give the house away? Are there organizations that would take it? Perhaps as a dontation? I thought about listing it for sale for like $5000 and see if anyone wants it. It is seriously in bad shape. I am open to any and all ideas. Thanks!

The land should have value. Call a few real estate brokers, don't talk to the agents... just the brokers (they're more experienced and have good contacts.) One of them might be interested in the land.

You can gift the house/ land. If you do you will be able to get a tax write off for the market value of the property. Speak with a CPA and appraiser. If no organization exisits you should sell it as vacant land for cheap. Offer to give credits towards the demolition of the house. List in the papers, realtors, call homebuilding companies etc.

If you list it at a low enough price, someone will buy it. The question is, what price is low enough. Think about it this way. Do you know of any land that isn't owned?

Try contacting Habitat for Humanity. If it's that bad, they might knock it down and rebuild from the foundation, but they might consider it fixable.
