Being that it's been stated, a charge-off stays on a credit report for 7 years, regardless if you pay off the balance or not, I was wondering if it would be worth it paying off the debt in the near future (long before the 7 years are up) as the right thing to do.

I am currently working for a startup, and I did also get paid. (Yes, i spent the money too :) )
However, when I try to look up company name in BBB.org, it doesn't yield any result. Does that mean the company don't exist? Or is there somewhere else I have to check for existance of a company?

I have an online brokerage acct that I handle myself (but I'm brand new to it - it's TD Ameritrade). Can I buy gold through something like that? Is it just like going into a pawn shop or something and buying broken gold? Is it buying gold certificates?

I hear all the time that gold is a good investment - but I don't know if a) that's true or b) how to do it.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I was thinking of exporting clothes and bath related merchandise and selling them in central america for a profit. The merchandise would be stuff I would buy on clearance at local stores. Are there any fees, laws, taxes, declarations, penalties, that might make me change my mind about doing something like this?

Thanks in advance

Since a collection agency normally buys a debt from a credit card company, I understand that it isn't really necessary to pay off the debt to the agency. I was told it's better to simply ignore the collection agency (since they get a percentage of any payment as a profit) and negotiate a payment plan with the credit card company itself. After all, the collection agency doesn't even attempt to lower the interest rate on a debt for a customer. Please advise.

The question: What do you suggest I do until I find a full-time job?

The details:
This past August I graduated c.um laude in under 4 years. Since I was getting married in October, I wasn't incredibly focused on a job. I spent all of my time focusing on my son and the wedding.

Now it's the end of October and I'm getting turned down left and right. The field I want to get into has an intense competition to get an entry-level job.

While the money my husband makes is fine, we could always use more. We're trying to save for a house, buy a new(er) car, etc.

I figure that I have 2 options.
1) Keep looking and hope that the dream job appears soon

2) Get a part-time job for the season. I have to hope and pray that I don't get hired by a full-time job.My husband works in the evening, so I can only work in the day if I get a part-time job.

Mind you that I want a full-time job, but blah! That's all I have to say!

How come I have to pay full price with cash, but if someone has medicaid or some other type of health insurance, the insurance company only pays (for example) $52.00 of an office call that I have to pay $80.00. Isn't that discrimination to people that pay cash?

Hi, I am currently in college majoring in Finance. I have always had a very strong interest in Finance, but I am not very good in math. Everyone keeps telling me you must be good in math and now I am getting discouraged. For those of you who know- how prevalent is math in a Finance major? It is enough to just be really good in matters of finance or do you have to be a whiz at say algebra too? Also, if you majored in Finance could you tell me what job you ended up with and what was your entry level pay? I appreciate any knowledgable answers. Thanks!
