I am currently working for a startup, and I did also get paid. (Yes, i spent the money too :) )
However, when I try to look up company name in BBB.org, it doesn't yield any result. Does that mean the company don't exist? Or is there somewhere else I have to check for existance of a company?

Not every company is on the BBB listing. It doesn't mean the company doesn't exist or that the company is bad. If you want to make sure, go to your local business register office and do a company search.

No, not all businesses are with the BBB. They are not a member, which is voluntary by the way, and they do not have any complaints filed against them because there is no listing.

I suggest checking the state records for incorporation.

No, it just means they do not belong to the BBB and they havent gotten any complaints about them. If they had gotten complaints they would have it on there whether they belong to the BBB or not.

You PAY to be on the BBB list.

Check your state public records of Corporations.

If it is a start-up there would be no data on them, because it's a new business.
