The question: What do you suggest I do until I find a full-time job?

The details:
This past August I graduated c.um laude in under 4 years. Since I was getting married in October, I wasn't incredibly focused on a job. I spent all of my time focusing on my son and the wedding.

Now it's the end of October and I'm getting turned down left and right. The field I want to get into has an intense competition to get an entry-level job.

While the money my husband makes is fine, we could always use more. We're trying to save for a house, buy a new(er) car, etc.

I figure that I have 2 options.
1) Keep looking and hope that the dream job appears soon

2) Get a part-time job for the season. I have to hope and pray that I don't get hired by a full-time job.My husband works in the evening, so I can only work in the day if I get a part-time job.

Mind you that I want a full-time job, but blah! That's all I have to say!

Stay in the land of adults!
You've done incredibly well, and congratulations on that.
The burden you face is the challenge of keeping yourself occupied, engaged in intellectual pursuits, and solid in your own identity as woman apart from family.
Transitioning into a full-time job will be easier when you've been active and in a loop. It will also ease the disappointment if you find that the dream job is just as unfulfilling as most people report they feel theirs are about six months after beginning it.
Good luck, and may your family be well! Including you!

I know you want a full time job. But consider the following:

Get a job through a temporary agency. I assume that you have little experience, and this counts against you. This will get your foot in the door for permanent work.

Get a seasonal or part time job. First, you never know where these can lead and second, you can still look and interview for full time work.

Third, use your University's Career Services! That is what they are there for!

Consider going to a temporary staffing agency. These are great for getting your foot in the door of good companies. Sometimes leads to permanent employment. And you may be able to have flexible hours. Here's a link to one.
