Hi, I am currently in college majoring in Finance. I have always had a very strong interest in Finance, but I am not very good in math. Everyone keeps telling me you must be good in math and now I am getting discouraged. For those of you who know- how prevalent is math in a Finance major? It is enough to just be really good in matters of finance or do you have to be a whiz at say algebra too? Also, if you majored in Finance could you tell me what job you ended up with and what was your entry level pay? I appreciate any knowledgable answers. Thanks!

I majored in finance in university and it was so much fun back then and no you don't have to be a whiz at math or algebra because all the financial formulas nowadays are on a casio financial calculator.

that's not the point, of course you have to be good with numbers but not a whiz like you said.

concerning the career, you will have to work in banks or financial institutions. you can work as well in any compnay that has a finance deprtment.

I am currently majoring in Finance. My bachelor was Finance and my master, which I am currently taking, is Finance. Up until today, I still have no idea what is Finance. It is full of math, formulas, theories, and literature reviews. Exams and coursework are killers because technological awareness such as Bloomberg Terminals is considered. Depend on the school, but in my experience, the formulas have to be memorized as well in order to understand the basic understanding. Financial calculators are not allowed to be used in master classes.
