An eighteen year female patron to a restaurant/lounge was told one evening upon arrival that she could not be served until she spoke to the owner first. Consequently, the night before she was told by the karaoke DJ, "You don;'t really think that you'll be singing here tonight, do you?" This DJ happens to be her ex's bestfriend. This guy has verbally insulted her many times in other places she patronizes and and deliberately blackballs her. He also takes credit for getting her 86'd and takes pride in accomplishing that. Is my friend's civil rights protected by the UNRUH ACT and Ralph Act? We live in a small city where everyone knows each other. This guy single handedly ruined my friend's reputation which has caused her great emotional distress at a time when she was already diagnosed with depression. She had to leave the country for four months to recuperate. She's back now but eleven months later, this whole thing still doesn't sit well with her. What can she do about it?

I have been at my current position for a year. It was a "temp-to-hire" position, with the assumption I WOULD be hired after a year. Now, they're not sure because the company is enduring a "hiring freeze". I love my job, but I haven't been motivated at ALL the past month or so since the freeze started. I do just what I can to get by, and I have no desire to go "above and beyond". I also don't make a lot of money, I have no health benefits, and no paid days off. Am I just burnt out at my current job because I see no future in it? I feel as though my life is on hold while I sit and wait for something to materialize. I used to love this job, but I just don't know what I think about it now. I've applied to several other companies doing exactly what I do now. I guess what I'm asking is, should I go for the other jobs, or do you think it's just the job itself that unmotivates me and not the company itself? I think it's the company, not the job, but I wanted other opinions. Thanks!

Please no stupid comments people. I am having the hardest time finding a job. I am a full-time student, who goes to school 6 nites a week. I will have my bachelors next summer, and I am going for my PhD in Psychology. I need to obviously find a job while in school, something that will work with me for the next many years of school. I got laid off back in May, and have not been able to find ajob since then, and am very serioisly lacking in my bills. Im only 19, and in debt probably more than any adult I know, because I had a steady income, and then just like that, I was laid off. Does anyone have any serious suggestions of jobs that are good in school, and will work around your school schedule? Thank you.

How do you identify at least one economic, one technological, one environmental and one political trend that is likely to influence the company over the next five to ten years.

I took my 12 year old sister to the mall yesterday for her birthday. We stopped at Ben & Jerry's for a shake. When we got there the first time, there was a sign on the counter that read "be back in 5 min." We waited 5 min. and no one came, so we left, and came back.
When we returned, a young girl was sitting on the counter (where things are MADE), and asked (from that spot) if she could help us. She didn't even get up and come to the counter where we were standing.
While ringing up our order, she made a mistake and commented "oh ****!" In front of my 12 year old sister and other kids nearby. She didn't think anything of this.
When did service get so crappy, and where are these kids getting this language from?! I am only 22, and yes, I do swear, but NOT at work and NOT in front of kids!
I'm sure that my sister hears worse at school, but C'mon, what kind of example is that setting? Am I stupid to be offended?

A sales rep comes in and a order was placed with him, after he left, we found that we had 50 pair of Rayban sunglass and did not need the order just placed. The rep. wrote up the order and we did not sighn for it. Later after makeing the discovery we called the rep and asked to cancel the order. They were sent anyway. According to the customer service rep. that answered the phone, we had 90 days to send the order back, we did right away. It in turn has been sent back to us, we did not ask for it. Now somewhere I beleive there is a Federal fair trade commission act that states if you did not order the product, {wich remember we had sent it back in time} then you are not obligated to pay for the product. Is anyone aware of such a ruling? Do I have to send them back? Do I have to keep them and pay for them?

I am looking for some ways of making a bit of extra money and thought about proof reading. I don't have any specific experience, but have good grammar and spelling and a good eye. I was wondering if anyone knows how I might get proof reading work at home? Do I need to, or is it recommended that I, take any courses first?
