Seeking to move there and realize there's a very healthy tourism industry. We are looking for a community that does not have a high number of rental properties.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad tidings, but tourists are EVERYWHERE in Hilton Head. I've never been there when it's not overrun. You might want to consider living in the Charleston area (I do). There's plenty of golfing, beaches, and lots of things to do. Whatever you decide...the lowcountry of SC is a wonderful place to live.

Many communities in Hilton Head have regulations regarding how many units are allowed to be rented out. You should check with an agent there and give him/her the specifics on what you are looking for. Many neighborhoods are also gated which prevents tourists for driving by, etc.
