I have been at my current position for a year. It was a "temp-to-hire" position, with the assumption I WOULD be hired after a year. Now, they're not sure because the company is enduring a "hiring freeze". I love my job, but I haven't been motivated at ALL the past month or so since the freeze started. I do just what I can to get by, and I have no desire to go "above and beyond". I also don't make a lot of money, I have no health benefits, and no paid days off. Am I just burnt out at my current job because I see no future in it? I feel as though my life is on hold while I sit and wait for something to materialize. I used to love this job, but I just don't know what I think about it now. I've applied to several other companies doing exactly what I do now. I guess what I'm asking is, should I go for the other jobs, or do you think it's just the job itself that unmotivates me and not the company itself? I think it's the company, not the job, but I wanted other opinions. Thanks!

You seem to be an intelligent person. I'm sure that someone at this company may have given you the impression that they would hire you at a later date for you to assume this. Obviously, you enjoyed this job. However, the passion is gone since you feel you were let down. It may be time to look for a similar position on your own-fulltime with benefits. Cut the middleman out. Look on the bright side. This job served as a stepping stone and contributed to your resume.

I would recommend that you get your *** in gear and get excited about your career your current job and your current employer.
Temp position with low pay and benefits still gives you a great opportunity for experience and gaining additional knowledge. Employers can sense when an individual blames the woes of their corporate life on any one other than the person who is most responsible and that's "YOU"!
Finding a job from a job is the best way of moving on.
Remember this! You have three options-
1) Change it!
2) Conform to it!

or
3) Get out of it!
The choice is always yours.

You work for the temp agency, not the company that pays the temp agency. Most temp to hire are for 90 days evaluation and I've been let go at day 89 more times than I like to think about. You should tell your temp agency about your dissatisfaction and discuss another assignment. If you quit, you lose any other opportunity to work for that temp agency. One other point. The temp agency I was with paid holidays after one year's worth of working several temp assignments. You need to also begin discussion about what happens if they fire you ... are you eligible for unemployment benefits?

The company I worked for did the same thing to some people I worked with and it went down hill from there. You're probably better off finding a new company that treats people with respect.

its probably the company,
you have to set your own goals and dont base them on what the company wants. then do what it takes to meet YOUR goals.
the company you're in sounds as if they are trying to do things counter productive to your needs.

motivate yourself, to do what YOU want.
