Hair - November 2006

My hair feels like straw now after bleaching it twice (from black, to very pale blonde) hating it and dying it back brown----but accidentally turning it black, because its so poreous.

I know this was all very stupid of me---especially seeing as I did this all in a matter of one-two months----but the mistakes have already been made, so I just need to know what to do from here.

I'm leaving my hair this black--darkest brown color for now (my roots will come in dark blonde so I'll just maintain the roots) so that i don't further damage it. I plan to keep it this dark at least until my hair is back to great health.

But right now-----its a disaster. I'm already deep contioning and trying to tone down on my usage of the straightening iron. Is there anything else I can do? I'm willing to shovel out big bucks, or do stupid things like put mayonnaise in it. (but i hear mayonnaise only coats your hair, rather than treating your hair.)

Theres a ziplock bag burnt onto the barrel thing, and i can't get it off. I didn't relize i turned it on this morning and it burned into a ziplock bag on my counter, and its stuck on it. Any suggestions?

Ive been growing my hair for about 3 years now and ive always loved the look of dreadlocks, the only problem is i dont know what it takes to get them and how to keep them clean. I have thick, wavy hair (not african) and im not sure if that would make keeping them clean near impossible. My hair is now just a bit past my shoulders, and healthy. Also, if i were to remove them after some time, would if have to be shaved off and thats final or could it be undone to keep my hair length?
If you have any information on how to get and maintain dreadlocks please let me know, im not looking to cut them off because they got too dirty. This at the moment is something i want to really think about before doing, i hate having short hair.

I have long wavy hair that is very thick and after I grow it out a little longer I want to get it cut up to my shoulders. The problem is whenever i get it cut it always poofs out. are there any cheap creams (I've found these work the best) that I can get to diffuse the volume?

Or do little hairs get left behind? I'm just asking because when I get mine waxed sometimes I have to attack hairs at home with tweezers. Am I not going to the right places or is this pretty common?

I'm taking swimming b/c it's part of my gym class. and being a black girl - it's not going to be so easy hair wise. They expect me to swim for four weeks straight and then do my hair get dress and shower put on my contacts within 15 minutes w. a bunch of girls-about 40 or so. Then its like...they reduct time depending on how we do in class as far as getting ready..so sometimes 15 mins will turn into 8.

what can i do with my hair? I was thinking briads..or a swimming cap..but you know we have to take care of our hair. We ain't white and blessed with that silky easy to comb flowy hair. you know..? So how can i take care of my hair and what can i do to spend less time on it in school cause I cannot belate for classes...and ohh if you can think of any doctors note that i can get to help me skip the swim class.do tell

My hair is very dry and frizzy and I tried almost every shampoo..I tried...Pantene ProV, Nexxus...etc..now I have Matrix Generic shampoo and nothing works...so I want to try a home made pasta :))
I tried eggs but it makes my hair even drier.
So can sombody help me? does somebody know something made home good for the hair? I hear that beer and mayonnaise
is very good...help please.

I let my daughter high light my hair. Usually does great but this time the hair turned orange and is very damaged. I've been using a brown tinting shampoo which only tones the orange down. Now I have 1 1/2 inches of dark brown root. I just want to get it brown again(without it all falling off) any ideas?

My fiances shaver is a good brand but it doesnt shave close enough. I would like to buy him a new one but he says that he used to buy them from special stores that cater for blacks. I don't know of any stores like that. Does anyone know of a black male who really likes his brand?

what shampoo and what type is best for- long, dry, rough (kinda frizzy but not really more rough and bumpy) hair???

Some people have been telling me it's not good for my hair, and other tell me it's fine.
