I let my daughter high light my hair. Usually does great but this time the hair turned orange and is very damaged. I've been using a brown tinting shampoo which only tones the orange down. Now I have 1 1/2 inches of dark brown root. I just want to get it brown again(without it all falling off) any ideas?

Dye it one more time a dark brown color.......NO highlights, get a hair treatment, and wait for it to grow out and cut all the bad stuff off. or put a curling Iron to it every day for the rest of your life just to hide it.

Go to a salon and get it trimmed and add more layers..that way it can remove a lot of the damage without it tapping too much into your length. The orange that came out wasnt because it was damaged the volume peroxide was too low and wasnt strong enough to lift any lighter. You can go to Sallys or a salon(recommended)..and if you want to dye your hair one solid brown color make sure to ask for a color filler. A filler will even out the porosity in your hair like your highlights or else when you dye brown over them they will show through big time...and if you want to keep those highlights you can always tone them down to a carmel shade by adding a violet/blue toner also found at sallys.

I would suggest you go to a proffesional hairdresser, this is a delecate situation one that many of us have been in before! for the time being avoid straightening your hair (if you do) and when you wash your hair do not use very hot water! another thing I would suggest buy a very good revitalising hair mask! and use it atleast twice a week! you really need to use a good shampoo and conditioner for dry hair I would recomend TRESemme and if that is too expensice try loreal! goodluck and I hope this helps!

go to a professional. If you can not afford that, use a semi permanent color in your natural shade for a while. Yes they wash out, but they are gentler. Condition condition condition.
