Pantene is a good short term solution, but it really kills your hair in the long run. I have EXACTLY your sort of hair. The problem with Pantene is that it coats the hair in silicon. It doesn't actually nourish the hair, but coats it in shiny stuff. So your hair gets shiny, but you get a lot of buildup, and it's PURELY cosmetic, and after a while it stops working. Underneath, your hair is actually suffering and turning to crap. Really, you're better off with almost anything else.
I started using products from Lush. I use "Rehab" for shampoo, its full of good things and good for the scalp as well. I use "American Cream" for conditioner, it smells divine, and it nourishes the hair like mad. For example, if you apply it in the shower and leave it even a minute, there's not that much to rinse out because it sinks into your hair, feeding it with delicious essential oils. I can't afford to use it all the time, but even using these products every second wash makes it so much nicer, and I really look forward to washing my hair those times.
In the interim I use "Herbal Essences" or "Dove".
I think natural products have a lot to offer! I wouldn't have thought this at first, but my own hair is so much nicer, and it's gone from thick and wild and coarse to thick and shiny and silky. Still a bit wild though, but I think that's just me.
I haven't really used L'oreal... but they have a really active research and development lab (I heard that they spend more on that than any other cosmetic company) - I'd definitely go for that rather than Pantene however.

Pantene leaves my hair really soft and frizz-free, however a hairdresser once told me that contains a chemical which is actually bad for your hair in the long run. I use Aussie 3 Minute Miracle- it's brilliant for dry, brittle hair.

i worked at a hair salon, i have tryed many many products, have done many things on my hair, i have curly hair that is imposible to tame, and is very dryand coarsy, i have notice that pantene is way better in my hair than product that are worth $30 for long strait hair that is breakin the best you can use is: if you are planing on spending lots of money you can get the salerm product that they have for very fragile hair, the best product they have for every type of hair is call Salerm 21 is great on any type of hair, and if you want something littlle cheaper you can go for loreal vive

Pantene is very drying for the hair, I have had more than one hairdresser tell me that. I like Infusion (I spelled it wrong lol).

Usually, which too long for me. I believe it depends on the guy and also his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and other folks can't.
