Everytime i close my eyes
your face is all i see
so i just want to let you know
you're beautiful to me

You came to me one special day
and walked into my heart
you brought light into my life
when everything was dark

i thank you now for all you've done
and just for being you
and for all the things that you didn't know
you helped me make it through

So many times i've thought of you
to make it through the day
'cuz just a vision of your smile
made everything okay

and just a vision of your smile
is everything i need
'cuz you'll always be thought of
as beautiful to me

I wrote it for my gf, and want to ask your opinion b4 i give it to her. She helped me make it through depression without knowing it, she helped me make it through suicidal state without knowing it, now she knows it, and we are together...

does this sound good?

(i asked this on my other account "Dream with God")

Does poetry have to adhere to certain grammar and punctuation rules? Or are the rules very relaxed? For example when writing a stanza, I sometimes think if I'm putting commas, colons and full stops in the wrong places.

If U gets kicks when some one frets
You're a demon I bets
You're not nice you're a sourhead
You should be dead
Cause you love to make a mess
Ruining ones happiness
Insults them you start
Your game of it I want no part
By the insults you start
It's obvious you got no heart
Insults don't make you tall
Rather they make you small
A foolish child a pee wee
With no goodness in ye
You're an idiot in the most
I be there won't even be a ghost
Of Spirit when You die
Cause of the soul you deny!
You know not my way
You don't care what I say
Whether I not or be gay
It's not for you to say
Whatever I do for my way
Its up to me to say
So get off my case
U Plight of the human race!
You love causing pain
Driving many of us insane
Are U in Cohoots with doctors
Hospitals & drug sellers?
U want us against our will
Living dead on many a pill?
Because of the things You said
I truly wish you'd drop dead!

An Empty Room

An empty room is all that’s left in me
Bereft of life and all that makes it home,
And since you left, its just a memory
Just spaces now, where once you used to roam.

A thought does steal across my troubled brow,
A feeling creeps yet in my failing heart,
But still the emptiness does not allow
Even hope to strike a spark and start.

But yet, my stubborn will cannot accept
That you are gone, and all the lights are out.
My destiny! Its promise has not kept;
Or has it? In me springs an innate doubt.

Though doubt may now have filled that empty space,
My heart yet pleads for you to take your place.

i carry your heart with me by E. E. Cummings

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Thanks alot everyone!

I wanted to do Bradely Hathaway but we hve to create a timeline and write a short biography on that person and it would probably be really hard to do him..

I also prefer hardcore fantasy or something like that...

if someone answers i would appreciate it a lot.

some of you might mention Edgar Allen Poe but I can't do him. I also can't do Shel Silverstein.

Sigh

Deep within my bleeding heart
Stranded by the hold of fear
Agony takes a final role
Sipping the dew of tears
Thorns and rites idols of false
Tearing apart the skin of lust
Forever still but never born
Broken by the final quest
Vanity, silent choir spreading lies
Vanity, fallen shrine of muted sighs
Surrender, dance and cry
Their tormented eyes percieve
Grasps of fright, lusters crawl
Tarnished grounds of faded beliefs.

She is so obscure. I had trouble understanding most of her poems. By the way this is not a homework assignment. I've been out of school for many years. I just would like to understand what I read. Is it just me or do others have trouble with her.

Here are the two poems..
Here is I too
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.
Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.
Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed -
I, too, am America.

Here is Dream Deferred
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore -
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over -
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

It is called The Stages of Friendship. I think there were 5 or 6 listed. It is by a famous poet, who's first initial is J.(last name escapes me). He has several published books. I have done several searches but can't find this particular poem. Now I can't remember his last name! (I have CRS disease) He writes about how in the first stages of friendship you are polite with each other, then in the next stages you progress to familiarity, etc. until you each laugh at each other's jokes before the words can be spoken.

making a poem for my girlfriend of 2 weeks

how good is this poem?
do you think she will like it?
when should I give it to her?

Oh cold blue eyes

your beautiful cold blue eyes shatter me
into a million little pieces
Oh how could the two of us be
yet I will feel for you until my life ceases

Friends first that's the way it goes
hopefully it will work
Oh however no one knows
and the way I feel has began me to irk

My heart is heavy every time I see you
pass me in the halls
Oh I only ask that you
Be with me when I fall

However I feel I have stumbled
for your beautiful eyes
Oh how my heart rumbles
when I see those beautiful cold blue eyes

i don't have a title for it yet... but what do you think of it? (i'm 14) here it is:

Prancing around so blissful.
Flipping your fine, blonde hair.
Always being so wishful,
getting all of your share.
Shiny, bright-pink finger nails,
the ones you love so much,
the ones that help tell your tales,
so the truth is what you don't clutch.

But you always go around,
as if nothing took place.
You're falling hard on the ground,
to you this is a race.
Can't help curiosity,
I was just wondering...
How in this massive city,
will you make amends to the dead?

An "American" Sonnet

The 20s were a prime time,
and everyone who could would,
swill bathtub gin and near beer,
from some notorious rough tough.

They'd dance away the night tight,
in dresses that were cloth froth,
for life was always pay day,
a flappered "jazz age" flick kick.

Then 30 followed smash crash,
depression murdered mock-stock.
The job-world lay abed dead,
head covered well with black sack.

Old Hoover sang a rote note,
and Roosevelt won the vote tote.

When you can’t find a place to fit in,

Look within and fit in your skin.

When you are all alone,

Hold your head high and walk into the unknown.

When you are being mistreated,

Look within and do not let yourself be defeated.

When you find yourself without a comforting embrace,

Stare challenges in the face.

When no one believes in you,

Look within and make it through.

When you will not forgive,

Remember it is your choice how to live.

When you find someone who loves you,

Look within and discover if it is true.

And when you find that they are worthwhile,

Look within at what you have become and smile.
