If you could go into a machine, and tell the people running the machine exactly the life you want to live. (Rich business tycoon, NBA player, hot spouse, 3 kids, etc etc etc). And you live out the rest of your life in that machine......so that your "dream" becomes your reality.....(but in reality, you are just a person in a comatose state in a machine)..... would you do it?

Rather as - what makes you come alive?
Then go and do it!
Because what the world needs is people
who have come alive.

I suppose this sound like a stupid question - it's only for those who don't believe in an afterlife by the way.
Seeing as everything you know is based on your ability to move and breathe and generally live, is it possible to conceive not existing?
Is it beyond human comprehension to imagine time being infinite and you being gone forever as soon as you die? I certainly can't imagine it, it gives me a headache thinking about it.

I just tripped over my shoe and would have bashed my head off the wall if my hand hadn't shot up to catch myself. Then it hit me, through all the complex intricasies that we interpret as truly astonishing and unlikely that make up our human history, how can it not have been fated, all those choices made that brought us here and keep us going even as you read this?

I see that this young Indian generation considers superior the Western culture and feel shy when we mention about India and feel shy even to talk in Indian. It's true this.I'm even 17 years old and I've been living in a foreign country for 16 years, but I'm attracted by my culture and my religion.Living in an other state doesn't mean that U forget and feel shy about India, your own country.I'm not talking about dresses,I think that one must wear as he/she wants. But I'm talking about the mentality, which has changed and I fear that in the future the Indians living abroad will not know even what means India and begin to hate their country.

Christina Hedonism is the idea that by following Biblical teaching it is the greatest good and most pleasurable. Deeper: that our joy through God is a motivator. To quote John Piper "God is most glorified in us when we are most satified in Him." John Piper is the one who coined the phrase. For more info www.desiringgod.org.

So what is the solution? is it a case of choosing the relevant or 'best' information. How can you know what is relevant or best?

And with technology and the human knowledge base growing exponentially, what is the future going to be like for the individual trying to learn.. will it force us to be specialists to a much greater degree than today?

Or will it give the human a more total freedom of learning? If a human has this, what will he/she do with the freedom? might they lose themselves and there sense of direction in it? Or would it be even easier to be goal oriented in ones information seeking?

At its inception it was postulated that uninformed questioners would post their questions and get creative answers from informed answerers. Although this was and is still sometimes the case, more often than not it seems many questions are more creative than the answers. Beyond that consideration, even assuming answers are of great value, what would those who answer be left with if the questioners went on strike and stopped asking questions? I'm asking this question in a moment of anger because, having just asked another question, Y!A flashed a warning signal that I had lost 5 points. Well thanks Y!A. I wasn't seeking advice or information, I was just challenging those who prefer answering questions to asking them. Why charge me for that?

And yes, this is a philosophical question, the more general form of which goes something like, "Which is of greater value, questions or answers?"
