Most people don't think beyond their existence. They don't care what will happen when they are gone. Most people don't realize that the earth has limited resources.

Just who is it that says that. The scientific community?
Al Gore's movie?
The scientific community is split right down the middle, and Al Gore
couldn't understand a scientific if it jumped up and bit him.

I do what I can, but I am not going to jump off the deep end just
because Chichen Little thinks the sky is falling.

I recycle. Have been for sixty years. Its common sense. And if you do it right you can even make a buck in the bargan.

What I can't stand, however, is people who jump to conclisions about what is causing the problem.

Case in point: Ozone layer. It was believed 30 years ago that
freon was responsable for the holes in the layer. The use of freon was banned. Twenty-five years later we still have holes in
the ozone layer. .

Did anyone besides me ask if they had found freon in the layer?
No they did not. They just took somebodies word for it.

I did, the answer was YES.

Short chemistry lesson:
Ozone, very unstable. Doesn't like being ozone. Wants to be something else. It will try to bond with anything it can.

Freon, completely inert. Will combine with nothing.

If ozone could be combined with freon, the freon would become
something else and there would be no freon in the layer.

So much for that theory.

A) We don't always think about the consequenses of our actions and B) there are so many of us.
I'm not as green as I want to be. I think that automobiles are a really big-time polluter, but I still have to have one to do all the stuff that my life seems to require- like getting to work in the morning. Burning a bunch of fossil fuel every day is really bad for the environment in so many ways. We know it is bad, but we humans still haven't figured out how to get away from depending on energy sources that pollute.
I recycle, I conserve energy at home, share rides when I can, I try not to make any more garbage than I have to, I re-use things that I might throw away. It still isn't enough.
It is good to ask this question. It is good if you can get people to ask themselves this question every day.

At this point in time, there is no visible threat to 99% of the population of the world. Therefore, there is no insentive to be nicer to the planet. The reason many people are unwilling is that we have become so accustomed to our ways that it will be very inconvenient and expensive to adopt new ways. I myself try to be green I guess, but it's not my life. I'll recycle if I'm at home or there's a bin nearby.

I do drive a car,
But my contributions lie in the animals.
Colorado had a wolf problem a while back, so they went in and killed off all the wolfs, and since then we have had a growing number of elk. But no wolfs to hunt them. So we were faced with an overabundance of elk.
There was a movement to reopen hunting season.
mre and a lot of others thought that humanity already screwed things up enough by killing all the wolfs. What more damage are we capable of by killing the elk.
We got the govenor to re- release the wolf into Rocky Mountian National forest, So mother nature can take it's coarse.

We are part of her. Pretty soon she is going to take controll again and kill us off. Proably start all over.
But I try to do my part wherever I can.

thats easy---because man without God--becomes helpless. man is self-destructive witoout God. It's man's nature to find somethn that satisfies him. man has been placed here on earth by God to rule and dominate the earth. But as history shows u, the further man goes away frum God, the more he destryoys himself---beacuse he's getting further away from his source. How can a branch grow when it's seperated from the trunk of the tree?? things are obvious---some ppl just refuse to acceop it---we are destroying ourselves--because we refuse to accept God --we are refusing Him. That's y.

Throughout history ,it's been proven that man has to wipe out something or bring it to the brink of extiction before he comes to appreciate it.
