I recall a story about a woman with Tourette's syndrome who had a device implanted that allowed the doctor's to "dial in" the correct setting that would control her spastic tics and outbursts.

So "sure, it can be done," but I don't think this is what you are wanting.

You could get a stylish robotic limb if you bribed the right researcher, but they've yet to make a USB device that can emulate the circuitry of the brain on a useful scale.

Building a USB or any computer-brain interface is difficult because the coding schemes for a binary processor and for the processor that is the brain are so different. Its like Mac and Windows, only much worse for reasons that are too complicated to explain quickly. There is also the issue of the lack of any convenient input/output ports that aren't already in use (eyes, mouth, ears), so they have to drill holes in your skull and even then the connection can be broken with a slight jiggle of the plug. There is also the fact that the brain is a much more advanced computer system and can store much more data than any computer of similar size that can be built by humans. Interface technology is getting better, but it still lacks the safety and ease of use it needs to become common.

it is indeed possible. the plesent thing is thing is that you will not need too plug in ur brain for that. i am writing a book regarding the future development of science and technology and the impact of that on the human life. especially sociologically and the life style. what u r thinking shall really happen. around 200 years down the line. but the usb shall not be what we have seen it like. it shall be in the form of a cap sort of a device which can be mounted on ur head as normally as u wear a cap. if some one else puts it on, he can not use it without ur mental tuning and dna identification. when the identiity is confirmed, u can access the stored data. it shall also have a RAM which shall help the human brain is lateral thinking and making complicated calcualtions.

in that time when a human removes this so called additional memory, his brain shall find it very difficult to think. the human brain shall grow smaller in size with evolution because it does not have any load as such. so that is it.

man will also be able to code and decode other humans signals with this thinking cap. he will not be using lips to speak. it shall be a kind a mind to mind communication. no verbal communication. once u r affected with a deadly virus, and u r no more.

to actual study and write the suggestions at a respectable bandwidth, you will desire a great form of imaging and processing hardware embedded in it. and because those gadgets will in all threat be using a on the spot community to communicate between themselves, extending that community previous the top will probable be extra fee-effective than drilling the holes for a USB port.

Even if you could, what could possibly hold the data?
We transact more info in a single day in our brains than a computer could ever handle.

Oh my days...what a scary thought.

example : splitting the atom was a great idea, until it was used to make a bomb.

there are too many humans who seek too much power, it would throw the gate wide open for them.
