There is certainly some basis for that thought. We do feel good inside when we are following His teachings. That good feeling does motivate us to do more good works. We then are faced with the conundrum of doing good for selfish purposes, in order to feel good. We should do good because we want to do good. We recognize that doing good makes us feel good but the feeling good should not be our primary motivator, rather the service to our fellow beings should be reward in and of itself.
The term hedonism is usually related to personal pleasuring, particularly the carnal pleasures of open sexuality and nudism. Those terms have nothing to do with the spiritual pleasure we obtain from doing good to our fellow beings.
By serving our fellow beings, we are also serving our God for we are doing what He would do Himself if He were here to do it. Therefore, He serves His children through us and we perform His work by serving one another, which work brings us great personal pleasure, inner peace.
