If you could go into a machine, and tell the people running the machine exactly the life you want to live. (Rich business tycoon, NBA player, hot spouse, 3 kids, etc etc etc). And you live out the rest of your life in that machine......so that your "dream" becomes your reality.....(but in reality, you are just a person in a comatose state in a machine)..... would you do it?

I love that question!
Yes I would, it almost makes me think back to the point where I choose to live this life I'm living right here right now. And I bet that one of the terms was to rediscover the reason as we live it.
BUT, I wouldn't do it in exchange for this life.

No. I would not want to be comatose in a machine. Better to face the truth then to live reality as a living battery just so I can have what is basically a delusion of grandeur. As nice as the dream would be, it would just be a program and nothing more.

Suppose we are in the matrix, and the "real world" was absolute hell-- you would BEG to come back here.
Or what alliegiance do I have to "reality" when ALL of my beliefs, desires, intentions are about This place. Reality could be wildly different (it was just coincidence that the matrix simulated the past in the movie). Why would I care more there? Especially when there's no proof that that place isn't also 'an illusion'.
We're all brains in a vat: the skull is the vat.
Use it or lose it.

That all depends... are you lying in a coma like in the movie Forever Young? In which its the year 1939, and he doesnt want to wait for his love, who is in a coma. So he asks to be cryogenically frozen. But then he wakes up and its 1992!
Or even worse! What if youre in a coma like Uma Thurman's character in Kill Bill Vol. I!!! Where nasty trucker guys can pay a small nomimal fee and get their way with you!!
Oh man... I dont know. What was the question again?

If there was no possibility of me waking up, of course. It is not like I would be doing anything else.
