several companies are experimenting with organic memory. i belive its based upon organic matter that can have its state altered by very small electrical charges, and as a by product it theretically will be used to add additional memory to the human brain. How this could be achieved in the real world ii do not know, but the answer to the question is yes, it can be enhanced and it is on going work. Check out yahoo science news, there is articals within there about it

USB ports? Lol. It wasn't nearly that simple, but they've had prototypes for short-term memory upgrade/replacement chips since 2003.

And they're working on more technology all the time. It is not a matter of if this is possible, but only how long until it hits the market and what will happen when it does.
I don't know what will happen. There will be a chaotic whirlwind of change as people try to upgrade themselves more and more to stay "better than average". We're doing it already with increasingly competitive schools and work environments, but this will add a whole new dimension to the contest. Between genetic engineering and this sort of cybernetics, I doubt my great grandchildren will even be recognizable as members of homo sapiens.

YES
At last, a serious question.
Yes, it will be possible to upgrade the human brain by adding memory.
Now then - where did I put that CD with the extra memory on it?

i think i know what you getting at but i may be wrong. Your basically talking about bio-mec humans (HUMAN 2.0) and i believe that i the future that will be possible as we already have hearing aid implants that tie in to bio nerve receptors, artificial limbs that respond to signals from the spinal cord and other stuff like pacemakers. i think we are way way off brain upgrades but the more deeper question would be that we may create a new species of upgraded humans and what religious and ethical impacts would that have?

Hi there,
It's sad to say that Kidney Disease is the new American epidemic that attacks over 40 million people ever year and over 200 million worldwide. 10 months ago my Doctor told Me these depressing words "Your Kidneys Are FAILING!". I didn't know what to do to heal my kidneys I was terribly worried about being chained to a dialysis machine for the rest of my life. Luckily I was able to almost completely reverse my problems thanks to some great doctors here in Chicago.
I also found many interesting and eyeopening info about my condition on this site http://kidneydisease.toptips.org. Check it out!
Bye Bye

There will never be a need to add memory to a human's brain
A human brain has never ever reached the full capacity for memory...
When one has more memory and uses it more more synapse are formed. there is an unlimited amount of neurons to be connected and fomred with synapses. as you use other ones less more take its place....
its hard to explain try looking here

The expansion of memory would not necessarily lead to an increase in intellect, in the first instance intellect is the ability to synergise what you have stored in memory and teaching oneself better ways to access your existing engrammes (memory) via various memory tools such as mnemonics's would increase recall.
However, the increase in memory capacity does not necessarily equate to an increase in intellect, the two are not necessarily related.

That is what is all about studies, reading and acquiring knowledge in other ways - increases the store of knowledge which enhances the capability of the brain to tackle further problems.

I have found that one should not look back, stay in the "now". therefore it may be a better upgrade if we deleted a ton of memory that chain us to the past.
