Both, there are many kinds of pain and suffering I don't want to go through nor would I want others too either. That said if I had to go through pain and suffering to make someone I cared about happy or healthy I'd be willing to. I'd ***** and moan the whole time but I'd still be willing to.

With people you love so much...say for me, the very thought that something would pain my 3 year old and that she would suffer is more painful to me than to think of the same paining me.

I think most of us are afraid of pain to others, when those 'others' are people we love so dearly.

Sometimes I'm afraid I won't inflict enough pain and suffering on another.

very much so, particularly about 1/2 a year ago when i read the papers - too much bad news overwhelmed me. i decided to stop reading papers and watching the news. however, in its place, i subscribed to a magazine that offers high-brow impartial news which is perfect. i've been so much calmer.

i also sometimes imagine situations that i might find myself in, or my family and loved ones and i can reduce myself to tears nearly. it's not a good thing to do because once you are there, there is nothing you can do, it's just a bad thought exercise.

I've got a pretty high tolerance for pain. Mental or physical. As for other. I hate seeing people in pain and wish I could transfer their pain to myself.

Others. I just suffer for them. Very sad I know. I don't know why I care about other people so much.

For others, particularly my children. The most difficult thing for me is seeing them suffer and not being able to do anything about it.
