Hey, does anyone know of any good male and female duets? My friend and i are doing a duet for our school show. my first solo was, 'listen to your heart,' however i have also sung summer nights. We were trying out a few hairspray songs however i cant seem to get the hang of them. We also sang, breaking free, from high school musical. The only problem with this is we wanted something a little more memorable for our first school duet. My male vocalist is quite low so nothing to high please. thanks ever so much x

Between a Taylor acoustic, Martin Acoustic, Breedlove Acoustic, Seagull 12 string acoustic, or any really? I want a good one for around 600-800 dollars, I really like the Taylor sound, but I keep hearing different opinions on different guitars. It doesn't matter which version or model they are, I'm just interested.

I always see Eddie van Halen's Eruption and other acrobatic stuff. Personally I like P-funk's Eddie Hazel's Maggot Brain most.

Hi .. I'm a 21 y/o guy ( just turned 21 yesterday ) and I got a problem. Since always , I've wanted to become a great musician / singer ( for a living ).

The music I study is Cuban Music , Salsa Brava .. my Idol being Hector Lavoe..

But right now I'm going to college taking IT , and I don't have any motivation AT ALL for doing it... I've been wasting years by not doing anything at school

Should I quit school and hope to become a musician , or should I suck it up and finish college ( like my parents want me to ) so I can get a "real" degree ?

I know they love me and want the best for me , and I know it's best for me too , but the motivation just isn't there ...

I've always been a musical person, after learning piano at grade one, but sadly giving it up due to my teacher leaving the area and none around for miles.

I love music and I love the guitar. I'd love to learn and I've found a starting point. I've found some decent basic lessons on about.com http://guitar.about.com/library/blguitarlessonarchive.htm and I have friends of friends who are guitarists in their own bands, so I can learn off them.

I've seen a pack online for beginners http://www.guitar.co.uk/packages/beginner_electric/979-westfield_e1000_and_johnson_10_watt_amp_electric_guitar_package which is both reasonable and attractive.

I now have a few questions:

When did you start at playing guitar and how?
What do you think of the guitar I showed?

Thanks for your time.

Is a fret the actual line or the space between them?

Do you recommend using a pick or your fingers?

If using your fingers for more complex plucking, how can you do this without dulling out the sound of each pluck? (Things sound crisper when I use a pick.)

Thank you

i used to wear my bass somewhere in the middle from the lowest to the highest position on the STRAP/BELT
but after watching the likes of wooten i tried wearing it as high up as possible and felt i have a much better reach and controll on the fingerboard and the bass is also steady and was certainly a better position to tap
but this high up position gives me some kinda back issue ........stiffness or something after about 15-30mins of wearing it

now should i keep practicing and playing it up high and would the issue be sorted as i would adapt to it or something or should i lower down the strap (but that isnt as good playing wise)
please help me with your opinion and the reason behind the opinion

ps:my bass isnt one of the lighter ones its near about the fender jazz and please dont respond by saying "wear it damn low like the GNR bassist looks cool!!"

I'm an Intermediate Guitar player, and I've known how to tune guitars for a long time now. I can tune Acoustic guitars very well! But I have ALOT of troubl tuning the Electric type. I get a horrible sound. The Guitar is old, and I haven't changed the strings. Do you think that's the problem?

I'm defintly not saying I'm good, but I've been told I should do more singing for audiences and such. I love singing but the idea of having to do so in front of so many others scares me.

A local band uses songs other than their own. They do not belong to bmi/ascap, so no royalties are paid. Does anyone know what happens if this band is found out? They even put other performers songs on their C.D.

I was thinking is it harder to improvise riffs and solos on the guitar, or to "freestyle" as it's called with your voice...
