Get a book/novel published by a traditional publishing corp? or Publish it yourself?

I've gotten some opportunities to send in a manuscript of mine or a novel of mine that i wrote to some trad. corps and i was just reading on a self publishing thing and it will cost a sum of money as will getting a traditional publishing house (with the trad. house it'll take longer too)

Benefits: Trad. Corps
*better way to get out book to public
*if makes good sells, "Famous"??
Cons: Trad Corps:
*they may change YOUR work
*they have rights to your book
*takes a long while if they decide to publish

benefits: do it yourself
*rights are yours
*takes less to publish
*keep your book the way YOU wrote it
cons: do it yourself
*difficult to get famous to the public
*problems with getting more copies
ext. little things like that

what do you think???

Okay I am probably being a bit closed minded on this, but...

If Harry Potter could not even be killed as a little baby, just sitting there defenceless, how can Voldemort even try to kill him now, as Harry now actually can actually perform magic. And I am not really buying that Harry survived because his mother threw her arms around him.

Thank you.

Okay, I understand Peter Pettigrew and Severus Snape perhaps told Voldemort about the prophecy, but how is it that Voldemort goes to The Potters and why? He only heard part of the prophecy at the time which said someone will be born and that could be anyone why does he go to the Potters?

thank you.

Currently, my friend is in the hospital because of cancer, and he really loves the Harry Potter series. Now, I'm determined to give him the new Harry Potter and whatever it is called (I do not like the Harry Potter series that much), and I heard people saying that camping overnight for the book is pointless and that only people with reservations can get them at midnight.

now, i want to give the book to him soon, because, he just keeps getting sicker and sicker, and I want him to have some joy in avoiding the pain he has.

Please, is this true? If not, then I may wait overnight correct?

And if so, will they available the next day or so?

I really want to do this for my friend. =[

And thank you for helping. I am sure that Michael would give his thanks. =]

Are wizards just men with more power? I'm reading the book and it's really complicated, and what's up with Aragorn? Does he like two women? And what exactly does the lord of the mark mean?
thanks

I feel that I am a victim of an information culture (also self caused victim). I can't catch up with the book of the internet. Furthermore, all I know is facts & trivia. Yet, the internet CNN has all this how to stuff and I know nothing! The idea of books and the internet is to teach and yet I know nothing! I feel slightly disconnected from life. Like, I've been taught to not experience life and be cautious of everything. It's odd. But, sadly i'm a bit addicted to the computer....

I am currently writing a historical fiction novel, and have come up with a couple of questions:
1) Can the book be about a real time period with a made up monarch?
2) Can the book be about a real monarch, just with different events in his/her life? (Some major some minor.) It's almost as if I'm giving them a new life!

Thanks guyz.

I once heard all stories in the world fall into 7 archtypes. The first stories to use these archtypes are the 7 original stories.

What are these stories?
