I'm working on a little fantasy-based story in a world I made up, and I need to know: How can you get readers to read it, and possibly enjoy it? My uncle is really into it, so our other members of the family, but only a few really seem to enjoy it. Please help! Thanks again

A lot have told me to try Beta-readers, because they offer more or less sincere advice and grammar and whatnot. Where is the best/most reccomended spot to find them?

You need to get some beta readers-someone who doesn't know you personally.

I am a writer myself and my family hardly ever reads my work even if I ask them, or they say it's great.

If you want to write a good story you have to create believable characters, and get the reader to care about them. A famous literary agent told me the secret to great story writing is: "Show, don't tell," and "Edit, edit, edit."

Also sometimes it helps to write outlines before you start writing the story of a book; others do not. Some writers have certain things they prefer when they're writing and others do not. It depends on your preferences.

You already seem to do very well with grammar and spelling and I bet you could become a really good writer. Practice writing every day, and read a lot of books. That's the secret to a great writer.

When writing a book you need to do plenty of research on your subject. Elves, Fairies, Ogres, and the like are a big part of fantasy novels at times. That's just a for instance. Go out and find as much information on your subject as you can and then get it down in writing as a backup.

If family members and friends work for some want to be writers, that's fine, but for me they are the worst people to be your critics. Most of the time they will pay you lip service in fear of hurting your feelings. The other side of the coin is that they have no idea what you're talking about. It has to be something that they can relate to.

I wish you well.

From one writer to another I would suggest showing it to as many friends and family as possible. Ask each person's opinion on how you can make it better. Ask them which parts they liked the best, which they thought could use some work. Make sure you don't hit any dead spots that will bore your readers. And after all of this, use your own thoughts and ideas to add more interest and detail. Make sure it is always YOUR book, don't let others opinions change what you wanted to write. Only let them change the way you wrote it.

Also try showing it to people who don't know you personally. A lot of family and friends will tell you its good to make you feel better. Show as many people who don't know you as possible so you can get honest responses.

A great tip is to let your words paint a picture for your readers. It is much more exciting to read a story is you can actually see it in your head.

Also make your characters as believable as possible. You want your readers to relate to them and fell as though they know them.

Good Luck

Good! To make your story interesting to read the first thing that you should know is your audience. You should know for what type of people you are writing for , eg. you are writing for kids or teenagers or adults? This makes your job easier as you know what ur readers are like and what will they like to read. Second thing is 'show don't tell' meaning you should try to put life in you discription. You are takin abt fantasy right? So Suppose you are describing abt some creature you have in you fantasy world, now you need to describe the creature in such a way that anybody who reads it would get a clear picture of the creature. Like don't write " I saw a monster and it was freaky..." and stuff. You should explain it clearly like starting from how his hair looked like , then his eyes, how was his nose, his teeth, I hope u r getting it. Put life into your creature. Third thing is suspense. Create suspense in your story. When you r towards the end of the story don't just end up in one sentence. Try to create suspense. Don't just jump to the conclusion strecth it and add thrill. One more thing is to use metaphors and similies in b/w wherever possible. Also try to add some fun in b/w coz it keeps the interest of the readers. One more thing try to talk to the audience in the story by adding dialogues. This trick I can't explain coz this wholly depens on the writers story and his effort to think where he could commute with th audience.
Hope this will help!
GOOD LUCK!

By connecting with the reader on some personal level. By showing your readers that you really are dedicated to your book and showing a lot of enthusiasm while writing it.

Family members are the worst critics. Almost every page must be interesting to write a thoroughly enjoyable book. Write every day; write all the time and your writing will continue to improve.

What gets me into a story is when the story has a good idea AND it is written well.
I like it when the story has unimaginable twists and all the twists have a connection in the end!
