The shire being the entire region, not one little village in it. My father has told me that something of that landscape would be called highlands or steppeland, but it just doesn't sound right

Some have been telling me it is like Southern England or In similar areas. I suppose what i'm asking is: green rolling hills, trees common, could be described as what kind of landform?

I was going to say valley but then I remembered that Frodo and the other 3 hobbit friends fell OFF OF a farmer's field into a forest, so I guess it is a highland.

The Shire is a fairly large area with a varied geography depending on the part. This is partially why hobbits from different villages in the Shire are different. At least I think so, been a while since I read those books.

It's big enough to have more than one type.
"According to Tolkien, the Shire measured 40 leagues (222 km, 120 Númenórean miles) from the Far Downs in the west to the Brandywine Bridge in the east, and 50 leagues (278 km, 150 miles) from the northern moors to the marshes in the south. "
Rolling countryside, small scale hills and valleys with a rounded texture dominate in the centre.
No cliffs or gorges, but with streams to power mills.
No vast views. Aways something new "round the corner" of the next little hill
Flatter towards the best pipe-weed fields of the Southfarthing, becoming somewhat more rugged to the north west and Michel Delving.

The Shire is a mythical magical place in another time. And in The Shire time stands still. Hobbits and things never change. I don't think The Shire is a valley or highland or such. It is a magical perfect place that each reader conjures up in his own mind. It is eternal joy in eternal spring. I guess we all long for our own Shire. Perhaps it is a sort of heaven on earth
Part of The Shire's attraction to us is that we are each one able to make The Shire be what ever it takes to make us happy.

i'd desire to supply a clean answer detailing the version of mediums and the homes of subjective selection... yet I rather have homework due day after today and could no longer additionally be on right here. So all i delivers is a private opinion: Tolkien. playstation . this question's been requested limitless instances. evaluate Dune to Sesame highway or something.
