I have written a few poems.. not the best ones out there, but I would love to share them with everyone else, thing is I don't want anyone to copy one and claim it as their own.

Now, my question is how can I get my poems copywritten .. and how much will it take out of my pocket? Maybe a little guesstimate..

and one last thing..

Is it possible to make my poems into a book for my own personal enjoyment .. ?

Thank you for your help :O)

I believe good/great writers are born with an innate ability to write well, tell a story.

I love the Potter series, but I'd really like to find more books to read as there are only so many Harry Potter books. Does anybody know of any books or series that are similar in topic or that are just really good to read if you like books like Potter? I'm a college student (I know, I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm a Potter fan since they're kids books) so I'd prefer something a little bit more teen/adult rather than something you'd find in the Juvenile section.

I remember the main character as being a girl who is transformed into a statue too by magic and at one point in the book she swims across a lake to some sort of temple where the statues gather... There's a boy in it too who's also transformed.

I am trying to publish a book on my own without an agent and NOT do self publish. But people have told me that without and agent publishers won't actually read my work. How do I prevent this from happening?

Best i think would be A Time To Kill by John Grisham, best trashy novel would be Riders by Jilly Cooper which i have read twice, i have read all the books in the series, they are light hearted and just good fun to read. At the minute i'm reading Winter In Madrid by CJ Sansom which iam quite enjoying, except i have a bad habit of flicking to the end of the book to see what happens! I dont think i have a worst book as i never get past the 1st chapter if i dont like something. I also thought the Horse Whisperer was good, cant believe the ending though as i saw the film first, i was like oh my god they killed Robert Redford!!!

It was about a little boy who grew up in the country and loved to run his garden, and when he moved to the city he convinced some kids he met to plant seeds on the roof of a building.

When parents of students at North Ridge Public High School offer their repeated complaints that the school is impersonal and harsh, the lazy head principal decides to offer group therapy to a small group of students he thinks need it most in order to present a more caring image. As usual, he throws all the work in the hands of his kind but overworked vice principal, Mr. Morrison, who already has more problems than he can handle with a terminally ill father, troubled kids, a job he hates, & a pending divorce with his cheating wife. Of course, the random students recommended for the project are unwilling, uncooperative, and don't get along at all. However, when the six completely different, eccentric teens begin meeting with Mr. Morrison Wednesdays in the old storage room, the group, Morrison included, find that no matter how unlike they are, they can each grow personally and share the common bond that they are human beings with problems that together, they can work towards solving.

Chapter 1

“Ben, I don’t like what I see.” His wife said with her back towards him as she stood by the balcony doors that overlooked the city below. Her arms were loosely folded, and her raven black hair and the satin night dress that she was wearing billowed gently in the breeze that blew through the open doors of the balcony. Strangely there was an absence of the usual city ambience of whaling police sirens and traffic.

Feeling puzzled as to what she meant Ben slid out from under the magnolia coloured bed covers and went to join Sky.
“Honey, what are you talking about?” he said resting his hand over her back, instinctively stroking the silky creaminess of her night dress, he just wanted her to come back to bed. She looked at him with her dark and intense eyes, wearing an expression of anxiety. Ben slowly lifted his eyes up to the horizon of the city, the familiar cityscape of neon draped buildings was disturbed by a monstrous structure with a colouring as black as the

Can you recommend some great (not too long) books you've read?
Especially any ones that your school English teachers made you read, that were worth reading.

Thanks!

Here is my list of 'English teacher' books that I like:

The Outsiders (I loved it!)
Fahrenheit 451 (great quotes/lines in it!)
A Policeman calls (possibly the best play I know)
The Catcher in the Rye
The Kite-runner
Q and A
Montana 1948
Of Mice and Men
