I heard this book written by the man who ran the Beatles recording studio Apple ticked off Paul and Linda. He wrote some bad stuff about them and Linda commented in playboy that she burned the copy he sent. Linda said he betrayed a trust. Has anyone read this book?

I'm wanting to write a story about a retired police detective remembering the serial killer that made his career. I want the serial killer to have a cool nickname like The Zodiac Killer, Son of Sam, Jack The Ripper, The Nightstalker, etc. I can't think of anything cool yet so your help would be much appreciated.

Does anyone remember a novel from the 1960s, written by a group of English writers who sat down one evening to write a definitive novel without any literary merit. They wrote a chapter each and to their surprise, their joke became a best seller.

I'd be glad to get the title and any other detail. The content was considered very daring at the time(!)

Thanks

I need to to know what the motives, purposes, and lessons that both the characters in these stories learned.

The motives, purposes, and lessons that the guy in walden learned

and McCandless's motives, purposes, and lessons that he learned from Into the wild

What "clues" from previous HP books (maybe some we've overlooked) will be pertinent to this one? For instance, there've been questions on here about what objects Voldemort put his "soul" into. What other clues from 1 - 6 will pop up here? And how will they be important?

Examples: the mirror from book 5; the memory thing in Dumbledore's office, etc.

All speculations welcome!

Just wondering. I got it last year from Amazon.com sent to me here in Ireland and I'm wondering when i should prebook it. I remembered reading something about there only being 100,000 copies printed. Does anyone have any advice or info relating to this?

This applies to the DELUXE American version, not the ordinary one.

i am writing a story right now and have two characters that i really like. problem is, i don't know which should be the main character.

so which interests you more and why?

a 19 year old male who has a semi-troubled past. Brown hair and blue eyes, moderately tall, dresses in black and blue, doesn't use weapons, exceptionally skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

or....

22 year old male from a noble family. family was killed and was excommunicated from his kingdom. blonde hair and green eyes, tall and muscular, wears a suit of armor except for the helm, weilds a great sword.

It’s about a boy named Evan who is 12 yrs old. He lives in New York with his mom and dad. His Uncle Zechariah (not Zachariah) is sick. He’s going to go care for him and on the way he gets ship wrecked. Would you like a passage of it? I don’t really need any tips but they are always welcome.

(1) What should he eat on the island?
(2) What should it be called? For now I have Lost Adventures

Without anyone telling me to look in resolved questions or buy the 2007 guide to literary agents (which i have on order), I want to know anyone knows of an agent that will only try to sell your work to the top 5 publishers.

Im interested in getting my book published but I will self-publish before i go with anyone other than the top 5.

To tell the truth, I would rather self-publish, but I am getting pressure from family to at least submit my work to some publishers.

I have a long commute to work and spend this time listening to audio books and am now up to over 200 titles. If the subject of reading or books come up in conversation is it ok for me to say that I have "read" the book or should I say that I "listened" to the book? Which is proper? I know it is a technicality, but I get the impression that some people think that listening to a book is the same as thumbing through a magazine.

its my first poem. you don't need to be nice. just rate it.

its untitled

Its funny when that one person you care for,

loves somebody new.

You try to get over them but your heart is still,

plunged deep down into blue.

Their special some one is better than you,

at least thats what it seems.

When all you ever wanted,

was to be that one boys dreams.

You lay awake at night thinking,

"How can i improve..

When life is constantly pulling me down,

Why the hell is god so crude?"

He shoves all the bad right down your throat,

"Does he think i can handle it all?"

Seeing that boy with someone else,

makes my heart begin to fall,

Deeper than the blue this time

its gone all the way to black.

Now i fear for the first time,

i may never get it back.

Or if in every book the author writes, the main character has the same name as the others even if the books are not related?

Just curious as to what you would think of this. Thanks!

"Looking" by Mabi David

His eye on the target: an earlobe.
The finger hooks the trigger, dispatch
of instruction and the barrel tips upward
in an arc that will land the man dead.

He will not loosen his grip on his camera,
the finger a steady crook on the shutter.
What has he lost that now steadies him,
that he can whisper Hold still to himself,
or to this man with the gun,
maybe even to his prisoner?
For this prize, that instant when the bullet swifts through the skull,
and he is past afraid, past his terror for himself, the man,
reducing fear to a frown you put on when someone
you once slept with without having to love, died.

This is his favorite photograph:
Eddie Adams' "Street Execution of a Vietcong Prisoner."
Mind-blowing, he repeats each time he looks at it.
A student of the decisive moment:
Pity to be gifted with such instances and to look away.
Even when he slapped her he insisted on eye contact.
This is how you know it is duty.
That time he sat her through two hours of B-horror,
held her knee and she could not move.
He always meant well, believing good did not mean tenderness.
Wrinkled and bent like a broken wing, now in fits he coughs.

He had called her, made her kneel on the floor
where he spat, and asked if there was blood.
How could she move away and be dutiful?

When he dies, she will remember this:
looking at him looking at the photograph,
through Adams to the stunned man,
missing the point of horror and compassion.
