This is a lot to ask! I have read "into the wild" here is what I think:

Motives:
1. To be one with nature.
2. To be totally self sufficient
Purposes:
1. Self Exploration
Lessons Learned:
1. Don't eat poisons food - it kills you.
2. No amount of preparation can truly master natures diversity and thus cruelty.
