I loved books by Judy Blume and Paula Fox Mazer.

Also, if she hasn't read the Little House Books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, I highly recommend them.

The Tamora Pierce series mentioned earlier are great, but there are more than four books. The Sabriel series by Garth Nix is incredible, as well as his Keys to the Kingdom books. Cornelia Funke has some good books out, Dragon Rider, Inkspell and Inkheart. Alos what about getting her started on some of the classics? Jane Eyre was my favorite book when I was 13. Or, what about Lord of the Rings?

Has she read The Giver, The Book of Three series, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, Ella Enchanted, The Princess Diaries, or the Artemis Fowl series? All of these are really great series and books by some fantastic authors. Whether you get these or something else I'm sure you're your daughter will love the books you have given her! Good luck and tell her "Happy Birthday" from me!!!

Umm well there are soo many books that I have read that I cant remember them all. How about the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, A Series Of Unfortunate Events books by Lemony Snicket, The Dark Hills Divide books by Patrick Carman...umm those will probably keep her busy for a while considering they are all series so I hope I helped! You could also search online or actually go to a bookstore. Goodluck!

Aww, if she loves Eragon then she will love the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley is a woman's take on the Arthurian legend. It's quite a big book but excellent.

Tamara Pierce also writes an excellent fantasy series starring girls.

"Firebird" is an excellent Fantasy anthology for teens.

Also, ask any children's department person at a local bookstore. They really stay on top of these things.

If she hasn't already:
Chronicles of Narnia--CS Lewis
The Song of the Lioness series and its follow-ups (Alanna: the First Adventure is book 1)--Tamora Pierce
Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragondrums (the Harper Hall trilogy)--Anne McCaffrey

I started reading some serious fantasy about age13-14 (some would say a little early, but I read at a higher level than some of my classmates)--Dragonriders of Pern (McCaffrey), the Deryni Chronicles (Kurtz), etc. Some historical fiction--Young Bess (Irwin) is about Elizabeth I as a girl and written during WWII.

I would interest her in David Eddings- The Belgariad set (5 books) the Mallorean set (5 books) or the Elenium trilogy (3 books), C.S. Lewis- Chronicles of Narnia (7 books), Madeline L'Engle- A Wrinkle in Time set (4 books), Tamora Pierce- Song of the Lioness quartet (4 books) as well as anything else by her, Lloyd Alexander- The High King quintet (5 books), Ursula Le Guin- Last Wizard of Earthsea quintet (5 books).

I hope that helps some.

I used to love books that I would call "Point Fiction". I don't know if that was the publisher or what, but the word 'point' was on the cover. There were many different authors, but I loved them all most of them were "thriller" types, but I read the same stuff your daughter did. One of the authors was R. L. Stine, but the writing was a little more sophisticated than the Goosebumps series.

Has she read the Harry Potter series?

I have a 13-year old daughter who also likes the Sisterhood of Traveling Pants series (4 books) by Ann Brashares. She also likes the Anne of Green Gables series by L. M. Montgomery.
