I am writing a YA book, but I am not sure which state would make a good setting. California has been done so many times, so do you know any other good states? Maybe even somewhere in Canada?

I read a book when I was about 10 (so its been 20 years). I have no idea of the title but I remember alot of details. Hoping someone out there can help me. It was a story set in the civil war era. It was about a slave girl named Corey. She was a house servant who snuck food to weary soldiers and freed slaves. She was freed herself and went on to become a Quaker and meet President Linclon and became apart of the underground railroad for freed slaves.(I remember she found her mother (Mary?) living under a bridge) There were two men who fell in love with her and the romance part was no more than a hug and kiss. The book made such a huge impression on me. (read it 3-4x) I would like for my daughter to read it. Does anyone know the Title of this book?

If so, which were your favourite?
I liked 'Pal and Peter'
'When I grow up'
'Linda and her little sister'
And others. Do your own kids read them?

I enjoy reading various English short stories.
Can you recommend some?
It doesn't matter whether they are modern contemporary or classics.
Also, any sort is fine as long as they are interesting and worth reading.
Some short comments or a brief summary of your recommendation are very appreciated.

The whole idea of writing a sequel/prequel/spin-off didnt seem right to me at first, but now I'm curious to see how people envision the story couldve continued.
With so many spin-offs and 'sequels'/'prequels' written out there, I was wondering which one is the best to try out.

I can only see two reviews for one of my stories, and there should be five submitted. I'm getting the emails about the reviews, but when I click on reviews next to my story link on the website, it only shows me the first two reviews.

Does Fictionpress only upload reviews every couple of hours or something? I'm just curious if this is happening to anyone else, or if this is something I'm doing.

In my senior thesis, I'm trying to show the correlation between the Harry Potter storyline and American policy/history since the end of WWI. I've got the first five books done. Now all I need to figure out what the six Horcruxes stand for. I argue in my paper that a person that dies in the series represents not an actual entity, but an ideology. These can be political or social. If that is so and I tell you Voldemort represents Germany (imperial in World War I and Nazi Germany is World War II), does anyone have any ideas as to what the Horcruxes stand for? Riddle's diary (Book II and VI) represents Hitler's Mein Kampf and the world's (German and American) response to it. We've got Hufflepuff's cup, Slytherin's locket, Marvolo's ring, Nagini the snake, and something of Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. any ideas? Serious answers please.
