I read a book when I was about 10 (so its been 20 years). I have no idea of the title but I remember alot of details. Hoping someone out there can help me. It was a story set in the civil war era. It was about a slave girl named Corey. She was a house servant who snuck food to weary soldiers and freed slaves. She was freed herself and went on to become a Quaker and meet President Linclon and became apart of the underground railroad for freed slaves.(I remember she found her mother (Mary?) living under a bridge) There were two men who fell in love with her and the romance part was no more than a hug and kiss. The book made such a huge impression on me. (read it 3-4x) I would like for my daughter to read it. Does anyone know the Title of this book?
