I just love his books! They are funny, smart, and just a great read. His latest is Almost Friends and it is right up there with all the rest-I highly recommend all of them!

I have alot of trouble reading fiction. I feel like I'm not learning anything. This makes it almost impossible to get into a story. I do, however LOVE non-fiction and humor.

I love most fantasy or romance books, any length is good for me, and it's nice if there's sequals, but it's cool if there's not.

They must not, considering the narrow viewpoints they have, and their lack of perspective and understanding of history.
It's impossible to deal with someone from the Southern culture because such are stubborn individuals who refuse to broaden their minds, and who villify education and enlightenment as being tools of liberal elitism. What goes on in the public education system of the South? Are libraries in the South unaccessible?

Here, I literally am making this up on the spot.... here goes nothing!

Embrace

My heart buzzes,
My mind is strangely calm.

If I could stay in your arms forever,
I would without doubt.

That you love me,
As I do you.

Arms of strength, of love, of securtiy,
They make me feel wonderful.

This feeling is new to me,
As it is for you.

We need to begin this road together,
Arm in arm, hearts one.

If this embrace could last,
I would make it last forever and keep it in me.

I look in your eyes,
So loving and intense...

And feel it.
Love. The word feels right.

Sweet embrace ends,
Our bodies pull away.

Love still lingers,
Just with the ache of lonliness.

I want to return to you,
So badly it stings.

Magical moments of love don't last forever...
Oh, I wish they could.

I made this up right here, so nothing too mean please! Thank you!

I first read Catcher in the Rye when I was 14 or so, and I liked it enough. A nice old white lady down the street gave me the book. Actually, she lent it to me, and I was supposed to return it to her, but seeing as how yesterday I found the fading maroon paperback packed inside a box in the basement, I guess I kind of forgot to return it. I gave it another read just now, and I came to the scene near the end where H.C. meets up with Phoebe one last time, but Phoebe won't let him go, and I started crying uncontrollably, and I had to stuff my shirt in my mouth and run to the bathroom, and splash water on my face, and stay in the bathroom for 10 minutes.

Did anyone else have a breakdown similar to me? Why am I like this? Am I emotionally unstable?

I've read every Sherlock Holmes novel and short story and some of the stories that were written by authors other than Arthur Conan Doyle. My favorites are A Scandal in Bohemia; The Final Problem and Silver Blaze. What are yours and why do you like Sherlock Holmes stories?

Why is it that you can only find hardcover editions of books when they first come out, then later on, over the years, you can only get them in paperback??

heres my little theory; voldemort made dumbledore one of his horcruxes because then t makes it impossible for dumbledore to defeat him without dying himself. i think that the main reason voldemort was scared of him might have been that he was scared that dumbledore would discover that he is a horcrux himself and work out the whole horcruxes thing and set out to destroy them all. near the end of the 6th book dumbledore seems to act like he is going to die no matter what so he passes on the knowledge to harry knowing that he will work everything out for himself. whatever happens voldemort will come out on top because he knows that if dumbledore finds out he wil sacrifice himself in order to kill him. what do you all think of this theory? (its just a thoery)

I read this book months ago and now am doing a book reprt on it. I am having a hard time remembering the major events, especially after Elpheba leaves school. I also saw the play, which didn't follow the book exactly and I am getting the two mixed up. What I need is a basic synopsis to refresh my memory and haven't been able to find a good one online.

Does anyone know what projects Andre Dubus III (author of "House of Sand and Fog") is working on? Also, does anyone know where he is currently teaching? At around the time of the publication of SAND AND FOG he was at Tufts or Princeton, does anyone know if he got a full-time gig anywhere else? I'd like to study fiction with him.
