heres my little theory; voldemort made dumbledore one of his horcruxes because then t makes it impossible for dumbledore to defeat him without dying himself. i think that the main reason voldemort was scared of him might have been that he was scared that dumbledore would discover that he is a horcrux himself and work out the whole horcruxes thing and set out to destroy them all. near the end of the 6th book dumbledore seems to act like he is going to die no matter what so he passes on the knowledge to harry knowing that he will work everything out for himself. whatever happens voldemort will come out on top because he knows that if dumbledore finds out he wil sacrifice himself in order to kill him. what do you all think of this theory? (its just a thoery)

okay, voldemort is cocky but i think that deep down he wants to be able to get rid of dumbledore if he feels threatened by him or he thinks dumbledore might get in the way of his rise to power. i think its mentioned somewhere that voldemort wanted to use harry as a horcrux but couldnt cus his parents got in the way or something. he couldve turned him into a horcrux while he was still at school because dumble dore was a teacher at the time; tom already didnt seem to like him and he was obviously planning a rise to power at a very young age (he was asking about the horcruxes in fifth year) so he couldve seen dumbledore as his biggest threat.

maybe voldemort ordered malfoy to kill dumbledore because he was feeling threatened by him as he was attempting a rise to power again and he didnt want dumbledore to get in his way. i know that in my theory it would mean getting rid of one horcrux but its compared to getting rid of his biggest threat its a small price to pay.

How did Voldemort get close enough to put a bit of himself into Dumbledore? Why would he chose a wizard that he feared even before he knew how to make Horcruxes (reread the sixth book)? Why would Voldemort send Malfoy to kill one of his Horcruxes? You kind of have to look at the whole picture, it wouldn't be a bad theory, but it doesn't fit. Sorry.

Interesting theory but I don't agree with it because Voldemort needs to protect the pieces of his soul. If Dumbledore were a horcrux then Voldemort would protect Dumbledore and do anything and everything to keep him from dying. Besides, how would Voldemort make Dumbledore a horcrux? Dumbledore was already powerful and working at Hogwart's as the Transfiguration teacher when Voldemort (Tom Riddle) was born. Also, a living thing or person would be a bad idea as a horcrux because anything that lives, dies and if that living thing or person dies, then what would happen to that piece of Voldemort's soul? I think it would die too.

nope! I don't think that theory is correct. Why would he want to kill dumbledore then?? And i don't think harry's a horcrux either! We already know some of the horcruxes:- the diary, the ring, the locket, the cup,so that leaves two more. I say two because if i'm not mistaken, it was mentioned that the last bit of voldermort's soul (the seventh resides in him himself).so that leaves two horcrux. Dumbledore had mentioned the possibility of nagini being a horcrux, so that might be one, and he also said the other would be something that belongs to either gryffindor or ravenclaw. Also, voldermort MAY have already used 1 of his horcrux when he was reborn in book 4.

Well, then why would Voldemort assign Draco the task of killing Dumbledore? It makes no sense. Why would Voldemort want his precious soul destroyed? As we saw in Half-Blood Prince, Voldemort worked incredibly hard to gain the knowledge of creating a Horcrux. Voldemort's worst fear is death, and unless he has gone suicidal because he hasn't yet been able to kill Harry, I don't see him taking any action that hurt him from achieving his highest goal-- immortality.

I personally am not in favor of theories which suggest that Voldemort made certain people Horcruxes. Because he thinks everyone is inferior to himself, I don't think that Voldemort would purposely put a piece of his soul in anothe human being.

I think Voldemort is too cocky for that. He believes he is truely stronger then Dumbledore and that he could outlive dumbledore with needed him as a horcrux to stay alive. Plus, he was the person who ordered Dumbledore dead, thus removing what would have been the only horcrux not easily able to be destroyed by an average wizard.

I do not believe you hit the nail on the head with that one, it seems a little too difficult to pull off being as how Dumbledore and Tom never really had any time together where it could have happened. And wouldn't you think that he would know if he became a horcrux and would have then told Harry?

I think that Harry Potter is Voldemort's last horcrux. You remember Dumbledores ominous "One of you cannot live if the other survives?" If Harry Potter is killed than Dumbledore can be defeated... but if Harry Potter remains alive, a part of Voldemort always will, too. Tricky tricky.

That's an interesting theory. It would explain the scar on his hand that never got explained. And it would explain why he pleaded with Snape to go on and kill him.

BUT it would not explain why Voldemort set Draco Malfoy out to kill Dumbledore. Why would he set someone to kill a person carrying a part of his soul?

I think the horcruxes are objects, and maybe Voldemort's snake. I don't think any of them are people and that includes Harry.

Oooooh good theory!!!

My theory is that there is a horcrux in each book. Seven horcruxes, seven books, and we have to go back and find one in each. (Some of them have already been explained). One ?, two the diary, three ?, four nagini, five ?, six the ring, seven voldemort himself. Cant remember the others off hand. Dumbledore could be one of them. Keep the theories coming!

But why then did Voldemort send Malfoy to kill Dumbledore? I think there is something going on though because Dumbledore tried so hard to stop Malfoy killing him and insisted Snape finish him off.
Remember that Dumbledores' familer is a phoenix, who rises from the dead, which might be important.

I think Harry is a horcrux.
So, if he has to destroy all of them, Voldemort would only be defeated if Harry dies.

Well, conclusion : it's gonna be sad.

Edit : Oups, I didn't remember about Harry's parents protecting him from being horcruxed (???)
