Nope, reading doesn't make your vision worse. Even reading in the dark doesn't damage your vision; it can just give you a headache. Here's are a few websites about myths we have about vision loss and blindness:

Over time most people's vision deteriorates, just like any other part of their body. Reading in a well-lit area should not make your vision worse. What it will do is make your mind sharper.

I think so because I read a lot and now I'm 16 and wearing glasses. My vision isn't that bad it's just a minor situation.

I dont think so, I have read all my life and my vision have stayed relatively the same. If using your eyes makes them go bad faster then shouldn't we spend more time with our eyes closed?

Reading in poor light can deteriorate your vision, yes.

Do you have reading glasses? If not try holding the book closer and farther away. You may just need reading glasses. I read all the time and my eyesight is still the same. I do wear glasses however!

No, age does. Reading is educational, don't stop - a good book is a better 'escape' than drugs and alcohol!
