I am positive that Neville Longbottom will do something truly great in the end. Not that that should diminish Harry. In Lord of the Rings, Sam is the ideal hero, where Frodo is the challenged hero. Most of us can only ever be challenged heroes, but thank god for the ideal ones.

The question of Neville v. Harry was answered when Lord V. chose Harry. There is nothing to say that Neville does not save the day but I think the real hero is Ms Granger.

Oh my god ! Everyone rolls their eyes when I say Neville is going to surprise us all. Why else would they bring up how his life story kind of runs along the same line as Harry's? I'm sure Harry will save the day but I think Neville will have an important role in the last book.

I'm going to have to disagree with most everyone so far. I do think that Neville will have a large part to play before the series is over and Voldemort is dead, but I believe that the real hero will be--hold your breath--Snape. Now, I know he turned on Dumbledore in the last book and killed him, but that had a lot to do with the Unbreakable Vow that he made. Snape is loyal to Dumbledore, but more than that, he is loyal to Dumbledore's visions of where the realm of witches and wizards should go. Now before everyone gets huffed because he tortured not just Harry but the Gryffindors in general in his time at Hogwart's, read behind Snape's words and actions. I see Snape sacrificing himself to save Harry and, if not killing Voldemort, then aiding in the destruction of the Dark Lord.
But, to agree with you, a heroic and epic confrontation between Harry and Voldemort is inevitable and all will see Harry as a hero.

OK, are the books called "Neville Longbottom and the Sorceror's Stone"? Nope, it's Harry Potter's series, so Harry will most definitely be the hero. Sure, he'll have help, he always does, but in the end he'll be the one it's all about.

Well according to the prophecy either Harry Or Voldemort will have to die. My mom thinks that she will leave it undecided that she wouldn't quite complete it. Lord knows I hope not. I don't think we can completely forget about Neville but again according to the prophecy Harry has to kill him because Voldemort choose him. I also think that peter pettigrew has to do something extrodinary, or at least something that will make Harry glad that he didn't kill him. At least that is what dumbeldor said in the 3rd book. I also don't thing Dumbeldor is dead. Check out the website www.dumbeldorisnotdead.com

i agree with you. i think Neville will be the one who ends up killing volemort in the end b/c in the 6th book, the prophecy says that one of two possible people can kill voldmort, and it could either be neville or harry and i think neville will be the one no one expect, and who everyone underestimates. even if he doesnt kill voldemort, i think he will end up having a big part in the final book.hes going to be a really important character.

I think you might be right, Neville might be the hero because he's was very close to being the one linked to Voldermort if it hadn't been harry, it would have been him.

I will be grossly disappointed in Rowling if she lets evil win. It can't be anyone other than Harry or Voldemort. That's the story.
