I have no previous experience with publishing and I am still relatively young. I am currently working on a Fantasy novel and I have so far had positive feedback, so the project continues. Can anyone tell me: How I can get my book published and made sure that I am not breaking copyright laws? Also the best publisher to begin with?

I've got an old Sherlock Holmes omnibus that I want to keep reading. However, because it's a paperback, the cover has come off as well as a few unnecessary pages. How do I keep the real content? Can I get it rebound or do I have to photostat the entire book?
