# THE LAST SHERLOCK HOLMES STORY (Jack the Ripper) (1978)
(Michael Dibden)

Not an original Holmes story but good fun. It seems Holmes will end up on anybody's case because he is such a great fictional character.

Arthur Conan Doyle never used the character of Jack the Ripper in any of his Sherlock Holmes stories. Any confrontation between the two would have to be in stories written later by someone who borrowed Doyle's character for their own work.
There have been many authors who have used Doyle's characters, carrying on the Holmes tradition. Some of them are very good, imitating Doyle's style and the spirit of the original stories. And, of course, some of them are terrible hack work.

There's actually a Holmes story out there where Holmes IS the Ripper!

He commits the crimes in order to test himself against the police.

No. Holmes was an excellent boxer, an expert with the singlestick and had considerable strength in his lean frame, so he would have given a good account of himself, but the two never met in any of The Canon.

Never in a Doylse story, but as others have pointed out there are stories by other authors about such an occurance. I also recommend the movie "Murder By Decree" starring Christopher Plummer and James Mason as Homes and Watson.
