No. Happiness isn't determined by our circumstances. If you need anything more than what you have now in order to be happy, you will never be happy.

Money is not the direct source for happiness... but it definitely makes it a lot easier for happiness to be obtained. Most of a person's stress is financially related. Therefore, the more money you have, the less stress you should have. Plus, you have the ability to buy anything you want, go anywhere you want, do anything you want (within reason). But of course there are stresses related to having all of that money... you never know who likes you or who's just around because of the money. There will always be people with their hands out, and you always have to worry about people's motives. I'd still rather be rich and deal with those minor inconveniences. Too many people want things from me, they'll have trouble finding me between my homes in Fiji, Tahiti, Italy, Spain, etc.

I don't think money is the source for happiness, look at all of these celebrities who are rich, and then turn their lives to drugs or crime. Money can't keep anyone happy, you have to find happiness in yourself. Sure it would make your life a bit easier if you didnt have to worry about rent, car payments and bills but you will always have something missing wether it be relationship wise, health, family, friends, greed.
Since I study Buddhism and I am looking to convert to buddhism, but besides that the reason of studying and practicing buddhism is to one day achieve enlightment. True happiness and satisfaction. They say that life is suffering, we suffer because we expect things to happen in our lives and when they do not come true we are sad, but if we don't expect anything and take our lives from day to day and live for the moment then we will never be sad because we didn't think or expect anything in the first place. Do you understand?
Happiness shoudln't be founded on material things, it should be found within.

Money is the source of all evil, and the evil pretty much run every thing, and every thing cost money, so if you want anything you have to have money. Is it the source of happiness, no, its actually the source that causes unhappiness because even the basic nessesities are over priced.

No way! I think peace of mind is the source of happiness. That does require enough money so that you don't have to constantly worry about food, shelter and clothing, but lots of money will not give you happiness, if you are never content with what you have. The happiest people I know aren't really rich--and I know some very rich people. The happiest people I know love themselves, love the work they do--even if it's just volunteer work cos they are retired--and have learned to enjoy each day as the gift it can be. Some of them have families that they love, some are single, but have made families of their friends. Not one of them is wildly pursuing wealth, and not one is wealthy.
The richest man I know has a wife he doesn't love, a completely dysfunctional adult child, and a wide circle of business contacts instead of friends. He is NOT happy, because he gave all his energy and soul to his job, and to making millions of dollars. "The love of money is the root of all evil." I think that's the truth.

Money is a huge happiness factor. Bad things happen to people with money- but they are much more bearable than having the same bad thing happen when you are poor. Plus, people say things like, money cant buy you health! But it can buy you the best health care possible, so I say, yes, it can at least promote good health. And money cant buy you love! No, but it can buy you a nice car, a nice house, and a membership to Match.com, so it can definately lead to marriage and a happy family. The things that really matter in the end are family and health- but money definately makes those 2 things much easier to successfully have.

Money is the root of all evil. Greed is not a very attractive look for people. But having money sure does seem to sooth some of the burdens in life. Right about now it would make me happy. But at what cost diffenantly not losing my soul.

No, money is a necessary evil you have to conquor. Happiness is different for everyone. Sometimes it takes money to get you to the places and things that will make you happy - sometimes it doesn't take a penny. I would try for true love first and go from there. It's not money, but not having to worry about money that helps to make someone happy.

No, definitely not. Money creates problems for most. Your most hated enemies become your best friends. Your relationship may not even be real either... money damages quite a lot. As long as bills are paid...you have a nice place to live and just nuff money to enjoy life a little that is happiness.

It would be for me, I am struggling to pay bills, not credit cards just normal stuff, I work 2 jobs and can't make ends meet so I would love to try this theory out. I have 2 sayings that I like about money:
It may not make you happy but you can pick your own misery (Mark Twain)
Whoever said money doesn't buy happiness didn't know where to shop!

I never thought I'd say this but as I grew older I realized that it is a source of happiness... but certainly not the ONLY source!
